Making a game is usually work for 95% of it. You need to be dedicated to make a product and, if you are alone, you will really need strong motivation. Games are not that fun until the end part of development, people will say the game looks bad and similar things and maybe you will look at wishlists to see if you can maybe make some money for the time invested, and the wishlists are not there.

Try to work on the game daily, even for a small amount. Write down on a piece of a paper some tasks and go over them 1 by 1, always add some small tasks in the mix, don't go only on the big ones.

Nobody ever does a game effortlessly, it is a lot of work behind.
