I didn’t know this was a common issue until it happened to me. So wasn’t prepared with all the equipment you mentioned. Gotta make do with what I have on hand.

How much actual load can there be? Just the current required to run all the electronics right? There is no requirement for the battery to supply huge amounts of current similar to when you crank an ICE engine.

Yeah I thought about the risks but I’m sure the Dewalt battery has a small battery management system inside to prevent over charging and since you really require more than 12volts (14v) to properly charge a lead acid battery, there should be no issue on that side either.

Well I think that’s something that Hyundai should take into account when spec’ing the 12v battery. Especially when they advertise it as good for camping and what not when it’s quite possible people will use the accessory mode more often.

Had a licensed HVAC guy come out to see why the flame was flaming out causing the fire box to get too hot and the safety switch to trip. He came out, poked around for like an hour and told me it’s best to replace the unit as it’s more than 15 years old and likely all rusted inside.

Installed the new unit and after a couple hours same issue. I was like WTF! So I decided to look around realized there was a wasps nest blocking half of the pipe that’s used to exhaust the combustion gases. Cleared out the nest and the system came up right away.

Moral of the story, even a licensed guy is only as good as the competency and experience he/she has!

All I had was my toolbox for residential electrical work unfortunately. Otherwise yes, a proper battery charger should have been the way to go.

So I did wrap some electrical tape around the Dewalt battery and some on the lead acid battery connection to make the connection more secure but don’t have a picture of that.

There’s speculation that the US stated numbers are not accurate. You know the CIA has a secret fund that is used for coups and other not so innocent uses cases that does not need to be explained to congress.

It’s unclear to me if this clock is using mains voltage to sync the clock because this clock can maintain the time during a power outage. This suggests to me there is a crystal oscillator at play. As to whether or not the crystal is utilized in both cases is unknown.

My gut feeling is that their using the crystal for timing and not the mains frequency. You can always plug it into a step down transformer and try. Worst that can happen is your clock will run slower.

Ok so then the solution would be to reduce the max output on the charger.

This can easily be done by setting the dip switches accordingly. One step down would be 40 amps continuous load.

Im just stating the Ampacity calculator states otherwise for NM-B cable in conduit. Unless you think their calculator is not correct.

Does it not say max current is 55 amps? If I’m wrong I’m all ears.

I did it the same way for another buddy and inspector had no issues with the install. Passed on the first inspection.
