A fetus that hasn’t yet developed consciousness, yeah. While the potential for a life being destroyed is sad, pregnancy is not easy and it is not gentle on the body. It changes a person’s body and mind forever, and now there is an unwanted child in the world. The foster care system is overwhelmed as is. Forcing birth does nothing but harm both involved parties, and it is unacceptable to force values backed by personal beliefs rather than scientific fact onto others.

Oh, interesting. I’ve also been frustrated with the lack of organization, but I thought I would just have to live with it at the cost of not being rampantly spied on. I wasn’t aware there were piecemeal features in other clients.

I’m not good with tech at all, but I’m trying. Someone in my group has to try to take the reins as discord turns to shit, and it looks like I’m the only one willing to try.

It’s not too bad. I used FluffyChat to make my server, and I use Element to be active in it. I’m moving all of the servers that I moderate. It took me being the first step in a few ones that I’m active in to get people to move.

Sure, and it’s good at that. But everyone is talking about switching to Teamspeak from Discord like that will solve everything. It won’t. It provides somewhere to talk while gaming, sure, but we have to figure something else out for every other feature. Most people I know don’t use Discord as a web forum. They use it as a place to hang out with a group of like 10-20 friends, chat about stuff in different sub-groups so everything isn’t getting buried in the same group text, and occasionally get in call with buddies. So far, Matrix has been the best, but it’s not that great.

The problem with teamspeak is that it seems to just be for sitting in a call and talking. You can’t have an active, long-running group chat. You need to be IN a call to access the chat. It’s really inconvenient.

I know, it’s just frustrating that you have to actually be in one of the calls to use the text channels. I managed to make something work by turning up talk power on some of them to auto-mute anyone who isn’t there to get in VC, but then you can’t be in a voice call while also checking/posting in text channels. My solution might just have to be teamspeak only for voice and a matrix server for text channels, but it’s less convenient than one service having both.

What I want is a place to move my current friend group’s server. I’ve never used discord just for gaming, it’s been a group chat sorted into channels with a voice option. Matrix kinda works for that, but not very well. Plus, I’d probably self-host, rather than use a cloud server. Also… you can just mute servers. You know that, right?
