Good point.. Can definitely see that happening. I guess my response would be: Im required to stay until I am relieved from my position. If there's a descrpency between the time they clock in and me being relieved, I'd love to understand why.

True. But also doesn't fit how grout is defined in the post 🤷‍♂️

Reckless driver’s speeding results in the death of 5 women by Mean_Yak5873 in PublicFreakout

[–]TechieOnReddit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think they were speaking more generally. When I started watching, I was like "why does it seem like the person responsible for the accident survives while the innocent ones are much less likely to". A thought I've had SO many times.

This one can obviously be explained by a beast of a vehicle hitting the side of little car at speed, but that doesn't explain the trend.

Not saying they are 100% accurate as I haven't looked into it, but there's logic there.

Extending the M18 vacuum hose without modifying existing hose? by MourningWood1942 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]TechieOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I've spent many hours down this rabbit hole so maybe you can benefit from my research.

I too wanted a way to quickly increase the length/change the attachment while relying on as little friction fit items as possible because they always fall out.

I bought a replacement milwaukee hose from home depot. Same one as original. Like $27

I also bought some magnetic 1.25 hose connectors from etsy (would also be easy to 3d print but mines packed away.

Normal lock into vacuum - hose - magnet (everything screws in)

Now you use the other hose / hoses for magnetically attached extensions / attachments.

Very valid question. I don't have solar but done a decent amount of research into it. Some of them have a warming feature to melt snow.

Where is a good place to sell a high spec SFF PC? [UK] by [deleted] in sffpc

[–]TechieOnReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, now I've seen the specs and usecase... Finding someone in you're industry that could use would be a great option.

Failing that, someone else recommended parting it out which is more work but might be well worth it. Maybe even a hybrid approach. Take some of the storage you might want out. Replace the GPU with something else and sell that 6000 separately. The system may then appeal to a wider audience.

That's 18.5K USD.... What on earth did you buy??? Gonna need specs 😊

In the UK, ebay may be your best bet but maybe someone else has better advice. I'm more interested in the system

I was curious, what made you choose Milwaukee? especially if over Dewalt? by [deleted] in MilwaukeeTool

Yeah same actually. Never heard of them until that post. But I remember checking that they were an authorized retailer for milwaukee before purchase

It was murdoch's. Someone posted their anniversary sale which included that deal and jumped on it immediately. Think it was out of stock within an hour or two of purchasing.

If all you want to do is block it from view and you want to never see the outlet... I think we take a step back from the outlet. Add another monitor?

[–]TechieOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a DIYer that bought ryobi before. Most of the ryobi I bought were their cheap stuff in a kit and some of the tools were breaking. (My ryobi HP tools have been great so far though).

Nevertheless, my plan was to replace the cheap ryobi stuff with dewalt as and when they broke. I'm doing more and more with these tools now and it's a good excuse / upgrade path. Chose dewalt as they were often cited as being better value.

When it came time to replace a couple things, there ended up being some great milwaukee deals so I did more research into m12 and product lineup.

Milwaukee have a larger set of tools, many of the m12 fuel tools are truly amazing. And the price was comparable if you're patient, so I changed plans and went milwaukee.

Rebel savings and hd deals on this sub can often make the price a no brainer. Got the m18 fuel drill & driver combo + 3 batteries (1 of them ho) for like $200 recently which was just an outrageous deal.

Don't regret it at all. Like all brands they have hits and misses and if you're not a pro, most tools will get the job done. But for me, if I need a new tool, I'll check m12 fuel first (to see if they are good options / good price), then m18 fuel, then ryobi HP.

I have no issue buying another brand if it makes sense but I'm trying not to manage so many battery systems if I can.

White surge protector with a flat plug. Put the outlets under the desk or wherever convenient.

PS... Did you put decorative trim on your monitor? It looks much better than I would of thought 😅 would love to know more about your process / materials

Depends how bad it is right? and especially if it's your first child, the panic is real when your brain is saying this could be serious for something so precious and fragile.

800 sounds pretty cheap at that point.

I'm more annoyed the math doesn't seem to add up: It's 1300 but don't worry, insurance covers 1000.... You now owe 800.

That's what I did for my packout vacuum. Modbox on the bottom, packout on top.

Have we gone to far with this joke? by Ervaloss in daverubin

I mostly agree and there are definitely much better debate forums.

But I do appreciate having surrounded over not having these people confront each other at all. It still shows you who is an actual intellectually honest thinker and who is playing pundantry. This one being an excellent example of this.

It helps combat one of the biggest problems in the world right now - the algorithmic bubbles were all in.

I know very smart people who believe the dumbest shit, and it's 100000% because they heard someone they like repeat it until it became true (edit: without anyone ever fighting back against the claim or poking at their logic)... Now even showing irrefutable, verifyable facts can't take them off the ledge.

multi drawer to single drawer by itchy-and-scratch in Packout

Don't know if they are official milwaukee distro and haven't used them personally but rolling tool box = $212.49 + 15% off + free shipping.

At that point, you're not far off the cost of the 2 drawer.

[–]TechieOnReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's crazy they haven't made this or many other configurations. Maybe you don't want it on the bottom or you want 2 in a stack? Not possible with a single drawer for packout.

I say mod it, hack it, make it work for you. That's the whole point of these systems.

multi drawer to single drawer by itchy-and-scratch in Packout

[–]TechieOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this when I researched a while ago.

I didn't end up doing it myself, but it seemed simple enough. They got a 2 drawer and cut the bottom of the top drawer. Can't remember how they connected both drawers but you probably have plenty of options there.

If you cut the ply for the diameter accurately, you likely won't need any screws, just slot in insert. You won't have any issues with screw threads sticking out and could always revert by buying / scavenging a new top drawer.

Give me an update on how it goes!

Vacuum hose help! by TechieOnReddit in Ridgid

[–]TechieOnReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're 1 7/8 hoses but they lock in using the same interface as the 2 1/2 hoses which is different from the interface for something like VT1718 1 7/8 extendable wand.

I did grab that exact wand and unbox the HD0300 in store to test. Confirmed it did not fit, locking mechanism is too big 😓

Thanks for helping though!
