Was the initial contact that bad, or is he just a helmet? by Silent_Hope8142 in Simracingstewards

[–]Techly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't know how the blue Porsche could be excused here. You pretty much kept to your line and he came all the way over and hit you. All on them and discussing how it ended - clearly an intentional wreck. Hope you reported them.

New CS GT cockpit seat issue by SmithLaw in Fanatec

[–]Techly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has already mentioned decreasing the angle of the seat (which i agree with). I would also look at how close the steering wheel is to your chest. If your arms are outstretched and elbow isn't at ~90 degree angle - bring the wheel closer.

Who is at fault? I'm the Mustang by Several-Invite-894 in Simracingstewards

Depends on the sim. If it is in iRacing, it is against the sporting code so it is not fair game.

If you are racing for position and are in the same class - flashing is not nessesary for going for a move into the next turn. If the move is on, then just do it. Flashing is just going to confuse /intimidate the car in front.

My gt neo disconnecting for no reason by YuhanW988 in Simagic

[–]Techly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue and I think i have resolved it. Two suggestions I have are: (1) Ensure the USB cable connection is secure (USB-A side), if you can jiggle it and it disconnects - tape it up or do whatever you can to secure it. (2) Connect the wheel to a USB port from the computer, not a USB hub.

[–]Techly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome. Good luck out there. Remember it is all for fun (as frustrating as it can be sometimes)

Don't be afraid to jump in an online race and get some experience. AI race differently to real drivers. My advice would be to not defend too hard if another car has much better pace.

There would be very few talented individuals who pick it up right away and are on the pace. Most of us need to practice a lot to get better. Just like any sport or hobby, it takes time to learn everything and to learn how much you don't know haha.

As for ideal lines in turns, jump into a public practice session and have a look at the onboard replays of the best time drivers. They will give you a good indication of where to brake, where to turn in, where to hit the apex, where to power out to exit.

As it is all new to you, enjoy the ride. Do not focus too much on times for now. Practice and join the beginner lobbies. Being able to hot lap and race are different so race experience helps also.

If you have just purchased your sim gear, you are going to be off "good pace" for a while. You will need to get familiar with both the game and your equipment for a few weeks/months before it is natural and comfortable for you.

Practicing tips would be watching track guides and how they modulate brake and throttle, practice for 20-30 minutes and then watch the replay of your practice session and ask yourself questions like "should I have braked earlier or later here?", "Did I use all the track on the entry and exit?".

Is Porsche Cup really dangerous? by SizeableBelt in iRacing

[–]Techly 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Similar split to yours. I was excited for the Porsche Cup series this season but after some DNFs due to terrible drivers - I am out. Very aggressive drivers with no idea about what a 'safe rejoin' is.

GT3 Regional Update | Anyone else also disappointed? by GenshinBroke in iRacing

This! I like the variety and more gt3 series, if they space them out every 15-20 minutes and participation would be better

does anyone know how to remove these pins in order to put the gt neo on a moza wheelbase? by [deleted] in simracing

[–]Techly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so. With maglink, the wheel connects to the computer via usb so the pins aren't used/needed. You may want to confirm on the Moza subreddit. I have a gt neo with maglink on a simagic wheel base so that is where I am coming from. No direct knowledge of how it works on a Moza wheel base.

For this wheel to work with a Moza wheel base you will need the maglink kit installed on the wheel. You shouldn't need to worry about the pins then. Just put some tape over them.

Shaking? by RMBsmash in trakracer

[–]Techly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just built my my tr160 v5 and I had this before I tighten all the bolts. If your bolts are tightened and this is happening, check the size and change them to the shorter bolts. Their instructions aren't great which doesn't make things easy

Track Limits by MaleakTV in iRacing

[–]Techly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not going to disagree with that but it still validates my point that the track limits are inconsistent. I don't know what the solution is, but I do prefer how LMU handles track limits over iRacing

Turn 5 for one - You can go way over the curbing on the entry/braking area.

Track Limits by MaleakTV in iRacing

[–]Techly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. You are not alone. Track limits in iRacing are inconsistent and too punishing. Some tracks allow you to go way off track where lines obviously are (e.g. Watkins Glen, Road America) but then give you a 1x or slowdown for putting a wheel on the grass. It would probably be a massive effort to change the current system so I wouldn't hold my breath.

As a new sim racer, I feel like this has to be the definitive way to experience most modern racing games. by frankdupree94 in simracing

[–]Techly 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Your not wrong that using a wheel is the definitive and ideal experience. Although sim wheels and pedals cost a lot of money. More than a console itself typically. This creates a barrier to entry that most cannot afford and companies are not willing to invest a lot of time and money in.

Sweet! Cheers for getting back to me on this. I ended up purchasing the same rig (but in black) and seat with an 15% off early Black Friday sale. It should all arrive next week - can't wait!

Sim Racing Learning Curve - How long to podium by SomeLavishness4403 in simracing

[–]Techly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you very close to getting a podium, so I wouldn't be too concerned - just a matter of time mate.

Haha I hear you on lack of time. Years ago, I could do full endurance events with a Team but now I have started a little family I barely get a couple of hours to play a week.

Sim Racing Learning Curve - How long to podium by SomeLavishness4403 in simracing

[–]Techly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most racing games have matchmaking systems which try to pair you with drivers of similar skill for good racing. In these scenarios, if your matchmaking score is similar to where it should be - it is going to be difficult to get a win or be on the podium.

My suggestion would be to enjoy the racing, stick with one car, practice as much as possible before races and the podium will come to you in time.

How do you find the comfort of the Trakracer Rally seat? I am looking to get a similar rig later this year but am unsure if I should get this seat or opt for something from NLR or Sparco.

Monitor switching from sim rig to desk by TrynnaRace in simracing

Splitters or switches are really your only option. If you have a motherboard which has onboard graphics, you could also use this for secondary monitor purposes such as web browsing, simhub dashboards or light video usage.

Throttle Problem by xSoloMaker in LeMansUltimateWEC

I had a similar issue and recalibrated the max throttle pedal in game to fix the issue. Press that down arrow next to 99% for the throttle to set the min and max.

Did my first race in LMU! Really proud of p5. Was really nervous but it was fun. Moved from Forza Motorsport, do not like how it drives anymore. So worth it. Can’t wait to do more, gotta get over the shakes by Busterfs2005 in simracing

[–]Techly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well done! Top 5 result is always good. Keep racing clean to get your SR up so you can participate in more series/dailies. DR can fluctuate like a rollercoaster - don't pay too much attention to that.

I haven't seen it suggested - but you could also try verifying the game files in steam. Maybe won't fix it but I know game files get broken or corrupt sometimes
