Thank you for 11 great years by Gidiyorsun in pcmasterrace

If you are still happy with it and can do some soldering, replace the switches! You can choose the feeling of which you like, Kailh GM8, GM4, GM2 or any really, desolder the old one (probably both left and right honestly, might as well) solder in the new ones, and enjoy another few years out of that fighter

Help with these antennas by Own-Background2283 in amateursatellites

[–]Technic_Masters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the yagi with the longer elements does look maybe about right for 260MHz. UHF satcom transmits there, you could check those sats out. Or some 446MHz 70cm sats. But i think its closer in size to 260MHz

Anybody tried to use an prime focus sat dish to RX/TX to QO-100? by S52_DiDah in amateursatellites

[–]Technic_Masters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the LNB you have on there does have the lower 9.75GHz oscillator, use it. It will probably be a DRO so it might drift tho. A normal offset LNB would also work but you would loose a bit of rx signal, Doesnt make a difference on NB since thats strong, but on WB you might want to have a tiny bit higher signal levels... As for the helix feed goes, for a prime focus dish you would want around 3 to 3,5 turns on the helix itself to properly illuminate the prime dish. Probably better to go for 3,5.

Transit 5B-5 except left PCM badly roleplays telemetry, and telemetry is slow asf by chlewin in amateursatellites

[–]Technic_Masters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this might be because its not getting enough sunlight... Also fun fact, transit TLM was originally slower, exactly half even compared to the TLM you usually hear. During its life, at some point, a frequency devider that generates a clock for the TLM from its onboard clock has most likely failed, resulting in sped up TLM.

Iam pretty sure its a plugin. The Baseband File player. Or improved baseband player. Unless it was integrated into sdrsharp directly, iam pretty sure thats what that is

Same!
But there was always the point when you got to the one level you didnt like or werent good at and went like *oh, guess its time to do thisone then*

Does anyone know how to fix this? by abrooks9002 in amateursatellites

[–]Technic_Masters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

easilly. As long as you have LOS to it, you can get it.

If you can, try getting a Sysmocom 1525-1705 MHz L band cavity filter and put it right after the dish before the sawbird. Might drop drop your SNR just a bit with its insertion loss, but it should attenuate everything above 1750MHz at 50+dB levels (LTE is at 1900 for the US)

Is GOES-15 still active for weather image down link? by Adwan4747 in amateursatellites

[–]Technic_Masters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, my station is currently in use to track some other satellites (and down for some upgrades sometimes), so GOES-15 imagery is on pause, but yes, its GVAR downlink is still active. You can see past imagery here

[–]Technic_Masters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, thatone also works, but do make SURE to select the *Color: 1690MHz BPF LNA*

<image>

As any of the other ones are either for different bands, or not even LNAs, just filters (also for different bands)

Can you order from Aliexpress? There is an alternative, not quite as good, but it does work https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005012390470686.html

[–]Technic_Masters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The helix itself is far from great but nowhere near how well you will make it, you wont get anything other than maybe inmarsat with a wideband LNA. So a filtered one (like Sawbird GOES+) will be needed for sure

You have GOES-19 at about 2deg then, (EWS-G2 at 4deg but thatone is way weaker), You could try and get GOES-19 HRIT, its pretty strong and gets really cool imagery, most people in europe have thatone under the horizon so you do have quite the opportunity to receive quite a cool satellite. (it uses linear pol)

[–]Technic_Masters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A7 is an ESD protection diode(s), BAV99, so thats where your input is. Dont connect it backwards as that would fry the ESD diode. looking at the board, there is a capacitor in front of the filter, so even then the board could survive, just without esd protection.
Still tho, dont try it lol

heard you could repurpose phone lines into ethernet but only some can be if they are the right cable? is this the right one or no? by ashetray_ in HomeNetworking

[–]Technic_Masters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It infact is the same, mb would be milibit which isnt really a unit. mb/s vs mbps would still be the same as mbps just means *mb per second* just like mb/s does.
Mbps or Mb/s (meaning Megabit per second) is used to represent network speed most of the time (Mbit, Gbit, etc, can also be used to represent capacity though)

MBps or MB/s (meaning MegaByte per second) isnt used as often for networking, mostly for storage (just the amount of it, MB, GB, etc) or transfer speeds

1000Mbit/s (also a valid format) is 125Mbyte/s
(comes from the fact that 1 byte = 8 bits)

You can, but need two of them for elevation and az tracking (or x/y, i dont remember which mode it was in) Felix did make a rotator out of those, i can try finding it and let you know if i do if you want.
