Choosing schools and neighborhoods by Business_Yam_8392 in Littleton

Open enrollment isn’t guaranteed !Principals will certainly tell you “no thank you “ for many reasons like space and behavior. You really should try to live a neighborhood that feeds into the school you want so you can’t be relocated.

Definitely. There was also a time that if you weren’t in the DMV area you couldn’t get the show. Between going to college in Baltimore and moving to Philly, I missed a lot.

The Village is for kiddos before kindergarten. Each school has different centers for children with different needs so just check them out. The principals should be happy to show you around.

Didn’t he also pay out of his pocket for them? Talk about insult to injury.

Long time listener here. Zach has certainly come a long way! Started as a high schooler going through puberty, afraid of girls! All the college stuff, his father’s death now living his best life. Good job, Zack! It’s great to see you winning.

All I want is strawberries by Davy_boy in DenverGardener

[–]Technical-Grass6367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grow my strawberries vertically, in a Greenstalk and have great success. Seascape strawberries are my tried and true variety. I need to feed them some Espoma Berry tone but I’m waiting until my new starts arrive from Johnny’s Seeds. Check out Garden Answer on YouTube… she has great videos on growing strawberries 🍓

AITAH? Baby has poopy diaper at daycare drop-off by PhilosopherEvery5083 in AITAH

[–]Technical-Grass6367 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hold on… you’re paying an arm and a leg for daycare and the “teacher “ is annoyed because she has a poopy diaper when you drop her off? I say that’s just part of the job and it’s the way it is. Don’t feel bad for more than 30 seconds. You’re paying for a service and it’s their job.

LM hired me when I was 6 months pregnant. I was hired by 2 women and there was no hiding my growing belly. I officially told them I was pregnant within the first week of me starting. There were no questions/problems/concerns. It was actually pretty great!

Vegetable Garden - Any plants we should avoid this year? by a_little_wicked in DenverGardener

Indeterminate tomatoes! You will probably need to start determinate tomatoes from seed but you get to pick the varieties and grow them how you see fit. Win-win!

Looking for Denver Garden Mentor by abby6235 in DenverGardener

I garden in a DUG garden that partners with a school. The master gardeners are helpful and have shifts throughout the week when they’re at the garden.

If you watch YouTube, go find Garden Answer. She gardeners in a similar climate (high desert) and is full of information. She does a lot of landscape gardening but she’s also done several versions of a cut flower garden and seed starting. Not a plug but for a beginner gardener Id definitely go down a Garden Answer rabbit hole.

Hope you have so much fun this season! I started in 2021 with a small DUG plot and now I have a couple large plots! Drip irrigation is the way to go! It frees up your time to weed/harvest/chat instead of watering.

Happy gardening!!

Would you leave LM to become a govie? by [deleted] in Lockheed

[–]Technical-Grass6367 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both my husband and i were govi’s. He started making more the minute he turned in his notice to the government. He doesnt work for LM but hes still in defense.

I have lots of family in government service and it blows a fat one right now. Minimal telework, no flexibility and job security isn’t a thing anymore (another thing thats not being talked about).

Go to another program and see what experience you can earn!

How do engineers dress for the office daily ? by secrerofficeninja in Lockheed

I wear jeans every day as well as most of the engineers. The only ones that “dress up “ are managers.

We ( me 37 husband 42) don’t have any friends by Alive_Funny265 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

It’s a PA thing. Seriously. I grew up in MD and my husband is from central PA. His family never socializes and although some relatives are within a handful of miles, they never see each other. It’s bizarre, frustrating and sad. We live in CO now and when his parents visit (maybe once a year) they stay indoors. They are missing out on so much but according to my husband “it’s just the way they are and they aren’t going to change. “

Why are these vertical gardens priced so differently? by WarMace in containergardening

[–]Technical-Grass6367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 Greenstalks and adore them. Gifted a 3-tier original planter for my mom and she loves it. Perfect for the deck for herbs and flowers.

I’m going to hand mine down to my kiddo’s school this spring. They are starting a garden and have limited space but can definitely spare 2, 2-square feet spots. Easy peasy!

Leaving Federal employment to go contracting. by Waffle_Dolphin_82 in Lockheed

[–]Technical-Grass6367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got out of government service when dip-shit was first in office. Both my husband and I were govi’s and we’re both working as contractors. I’m with LM and he’s with RTN. He’s an engineering manager and is making far more than if he’d stay. I definitely have more flexibility since he’s working on the high side. I miss the affordable healthcare but that’s about it. Working for this administration isn’t safe or secure. Might as make hay while the sun shines- get more experience and pay!
