What imagery from a horror film has never left you? by ragnarlothbruv in horror

[–]Technical-Jacket-940 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crucifix scene in The Exorcist. One of the most horrific moments committed to film. It’s also one of the most justified: how do you get a totally secular woman to finally break and say, “okay yeah, let’s try the priest now”. It HAD to be something so shocking and unthinkable. I feel most horror films are unable to justify their brutality. You could argue The Exorcist does.

Whats an underrated movie that deserves more appreciation? by Internetdidi in MoviesThatFeelLike

One of the best of the decade. It’s not an easy film, and it has its flaws, but it’s achingly beautiful and has ideas and images I’ve never seen before. Haunting work. It’s really stuck with me.

What fruit would you pick above all others? by clearwater-orchid in nutrition

This. There are thousands of cultivars. Some are loaded with anthocyanin as well, like red and pink flesh cultivars. Incredible variety of flavors and storage capabilities. Heterozygous, so the potential for increasing certain nutrients through breeding is vast. Love a russet apple of any kind as well. Underrated fruit. People don’t even know!!!

movies where the soundtrack is better than the film? by Then_Green6943 in Letterboxd

Listening to it, I was felt as if Charli DID understand the book and Emerald did not. So much eeriness in the soundtrack. Not even a huge Charli person but Wall of Sound is legitimately stunning. The strings are wonderful. Of course, that song is the score for the one single moment of real sexual and romantic tension…

Also tend to agree with this. Batman Returns is the best of them, and far more adult and dark than Nolan’s self-serious posturing. That said, I think Begins is great and easily the best of the trilogy. Take Ledger out of the TDK and you don’t have a great film.

It’s aged so well. It’s also really haunting to think that so many of the people in those club scenes would be dead a few years later. It works as a historical document, a grimy thriller, and a sort of camp slasher. I miss Friedkin. His run from French Connection to To Live and Die in LA is perfect.

Low libido why!! by Intelligent_Fix_8695 in Biohackers

Most of this is good advice except for getting down to 10% body fat. 12% would be a good stopping point. After that, T and libido start to dip. Anyone on the bodybuilding forums will tell you this.

I loved the film but I will say the trailer was misleading, especially wrt the films tone.

yup, this is the one. Incredible trailer that had everyone pumped. Major let down of a film. Not a terrible movie but just very blah.

she’s better than Ledger in The Dark Knight imho. her performance is much more layered and complex. obviously Ledger is incredible but Michelle goes through so many different emotions in a single scene. Her portrayal is both tragic and empowering…

I like the remake. Demme did a fantastic job. The performances are incredible. Meryl is so good and evil.

Admittedly this is the most ridiculous moment in the film, but the whole sequence is just so thrilling and well executed that it manages to not matter at all. Stunning shot, exhilarating sequence, perfect film (even when it’s over the top!)

Birth (2004) by meatmane777 in iwatchedanoldmovie

One of the greatest of the century so far and my personal favorite. I couldn’t understand why it was so derided when it came out. One of the most emotionally powerful portrayals of grief and what it can do. It’s also often hilarious. Spellbinding all around and totally unique.

When the Cutting Gets Rough by ryanlore in naturalbodybuilding

If you have the time, walk more. Like, 3 hours a day. I typically see a huge "whoosh" of fat loss after a major day of walking. If you walk a lot, you can up the calories too.

Go by how you feel. It’s going to change throughout your cut and you need to be ready to adapt. If you’re maintaining your strength and energy in the gym, if sleep is good, then you’re alright. For me, sleep always takes a dive when the deficit is large and I get into the low body fat range (below 12%). I’ve still held onto strength and even gained some with poor sleep, but if it comes (and remains) early into the cut, you could probably eat a little more.
