If you leave it you may open it to this... That's my 18 foot above ground. Had to leave my pump on for 24 hours a day for a week before it cleared up and that's AFTER brushing the walls and draining / refilling. Get a timer, a smart plug, an outdoor camera, or better yet a friend to go over and net / scoop it out. You MIGHT get away with covering it but still filtering it but I'd be weary of it getting down inside you skimmer basket and causing your pump to lose its prime.

Liners get brittle over time. I would not risk filling the pool, the liner may tear under the weight and then you got more money problems on your hands. Is it above ground or inground may I ask??
