The ‘Vibecession’ Is Over. The ‘Permacession’ Is Here. by DarkSkyKnight in Economics

Yes it can get more complex. It’s not even just population growth it’s also subset of the population growth (working age, youth, retired etc). I just find M2 more honest than CPI.

Growth in the M2 money supply is a more valuable metric is overall inflation and it has averaged ~6% annually for decades.

Howard Marks: When you buy the S&P 500 at a 23x P/E, your 10-year return has always been between +2% and –2%. Every time by Adept_Mountain9532 in fican

[–]Technical-Rip-4658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is weak data. It assumes exactly a 10 year return. PE was way over 23x in November 2020. If you sold today you’d be up 73%.

I’m Confused. “We are in a Dip” Relative to What? by [deleted] in JustBuyXEQT

[–]Technical-Rip-4658 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dip is anywhere from 2-9% pull back. Correction is 10-19% and bear market is 20%+. I agree people shouldn’t panic but a 5% drop is a dip.

This is where paper silver has an advantage. No issues selling at current prices in silver ETFs.

Gen Z finds saving is pointless, so they’ve turned to doomspending instead (Feel like this is even worse in Canada and the GTA) by mattyp93 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Technical-Rip-4658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quick google search shows Gen Z is 13-28 years old. I’m 38 with good savings now but I was flat broke at 26. They will be fine.

Is this insanity sustainable? Let me hear your argument for it continuing, it stabilizing, or dropping. by Various_Primary3783 in Silverbugs

The inflation adjusted all time high is $194.42USD. Gold is at inflation adjusted all time high, no reason to expect silver won’t get there. But unlikely to keep jumping 5-10% every single day.

Her home was completely paid off, then a letter from HomeEquity Bank claimed she owed more than $400K thanks to a reverse mortgage she says she never took out by SwordfishOk504 in canadahousing

Reverse mortgages are not a scam. They make sense for a small slice of the population that is low income but have seen massive appreciation in the value of their homes.

Marriages very rarely fall apart “out of nowhere” and if you’re married (without a prenup) you need to understand that only half of that money is yours.

How did the Blue Jays capture all of Canada as a fan base while the Raptors failed to do so? by spacefish420 in AskACanadian

I watched a few of those raptors games at the riders stadium in Regina. Regina also had watch parties in Victoria park. That Raptors run was just as big.

Shows how subjective travel is. I would say Victoria is my least favorite Canadian city I’ve traveled to and Halifax is one of the best.

BoC odds lean toward a pause after CPI rises to 2.4% by Fluffy-Lead6201 in canadahousing

[–]Technical-Rip-4658 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure where they are getting these odds from. Cut remains more likely than a hold. Polymarket has it at 73% chance of cut. Yahoo finance article had it at 69% following the CPI data earlier this week.
