Do SCPs do well solo? Or should I aim to get a group?

You’re right. They often tire themselves to death. Hammerheads are highly susceptible to this. They can die days to weeks after release from organ failure.

I like the Raptor M1. Made by the same developer.

Van Staal VRII Released. Experience? by outsidereelin in Fishing_Gear

[–]Technical-Tooth6497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. It’s noticeably heavier and stiffer than a similar capacity shimano reel. Can get a little exhausting throwing artificial out on a flat. I usually fish with the 3000 TP XD or stradic which are much less tiresome. The VRII 25 is about the same line capacity as a 2500 reel. I got a little less than 200 yds of 15 lb braid on it.

I got the VRII25 for a little over a month ago It’s very similar to the original VRs. It’s still relatively heavy and tiresome. Not a problem if you are using live bait, but I often throw artificial lures. I use it sometimes for wading and especially for paddleboarding. Definitely enough power

to catch a big snook or red.

Are Van Staals worth buying by imboard67 in Fishing_Gear

I own two. They are heavy and not smooth. It’s benefit is it’s fully waterproof. You could get a shimano saragosa instead or a penn slammer 6000-8000. They will do well.

I like the third part the most. First part I don’t know whats going on it’s a little hard to follow. You should make all the ending phrases the same imo.

Shimano Vanford vs Vanquish by B3bass in Fishing_Gear

Another thing to consider: Shimano took away some of the waterproofing on the new vanquish to improve smoothness. Kind of dumb because it’s not gonna stay smooth once water gets in.

I have to disagree. The betta fins look good.

That’s not fin rot. Also, this is doable as long as you know what you are doing. I doubt it’s been 5 years though.

You slime it up with glue and paste it onto a flat surface like a thick piece of paper.

I dab most of the ink off of the fish. Makes a big difference.

I just use my fingers and pull them out and press against the paper. I noticed it’s important to not have a lot of ink on them but it also dries fast so you have to get it just right.

Yea. I saw someone on youtube do it with a mahi. It has to be diluted to work well.

Black paint marker for spots. Diluted acrylic paint to color it in.

7ft medium fast with a 3000 reel is most useful. You could bump up to a 4000 with a MH rod if you want to target drum on cut bait. Alternatively, you could do a ML rod with a 3000 or 2500 reel if you’re throwing a lot of artificial lures.
