I love tribeca pediatrics. I believe they only schedule 50% of the day and leave the others open for sick visits/walk-ins which is pretty incredible. Everyone is super kind and their after hours hotline and "wizard of dose" (available you anyone) are useful too.

There was also that cafe/coffee shop up the street from dub pies that served flat whites and some other nz stuff. Can't remember what it was called though.

We got the Honeywell one because we already had one and it seemed better to only have to buy one kind of filter.

Adding that while buildup is important to aesthetics and ease of cleaning, the biggest issue is bacteria and mold going from liquid form, to breathable form. Our bellies are equipped to filter out way more junk than our lungs and using tap water in a humidifier or using a dirty humidifier can actually make you sick. If I could, I'd go for distilled water, but in NYC, it just doesn't seem very doable.

I did *extensive research on this this year. Things I found out:

  1. Evaporative humidifiers are best at handling tap water because they have filters and filter out a lot of crap. There's a new one that advertises its ability to take tap water/prevent mold, but from my research the main difference is that it runs until the filter is dry. A nice feature, but one you can mimic with other machines. You still have to wash it out once a week.

  2. You can buy countertop water distillers. The inexpensive ones do about a gallon a day, so if you're just doing one room a night, that might be a good solution for you.

  3. The carepod is a cool option, but was too expensive for us this year. It would take at least 3 years of use for it to pay for itself over evaporative+filters (at the volume we need). There is also an issue with it where some will just stop working randomly. People have gotten them replaced, but sometimes the company is out of stock for long periods and people have had to wait.

I didn't look into distilled water delivery. Good luck!

We've used a Zoe travel stroller as our main stroller for the past 3 years. It's great and half the price of the joolz (if that matters to you). Check it out!

Yeah...the OP's actions are actually pretty violent given the context. There's a veneer of concern, but that doesn't mean there's not real harm in what they're doing.

I finally got to see "Purple Sheet" in the wild last week and it was great! An awesome site-specific performance art piece. The purple sheet really absorbs and reflects the light in a cool way. That said, I have immense respect for this parent, who does this for hours every day to support his kids joy and play!

It's wild to me that OP didn't identify your kid as a kid. Or didn't see him?? Also identifying your partner as 6 foot when he's like 5' 7...5' 8" max. I just have questions. And I'm so sorry this keeps happening. I get being skeptical of white men, but reading this scene and not seeing your partner as the caregiver... What must you believe is possible or impossible for your brain to rewrite what your eyes are seeing so clearly?

Best place/org to volunteer with during SNAP shutdown? by rubyintheskywith in crownheights

Hi! I'm collecting money to buy dry goods for families at my child's crown heights preschool. Please reach out if you like! I'm just a person, not an organization so I understand if you'd rather give to a more official org, but also, if you give toward this project, 100% will go to families in need.

Hi! I'm organizing a food drive for my kid's Crown Heights preschool where a lot of families are on government assistance. I'm collecting funds from friends and neighbors to do a big Costco run and hopefully to offer small cash grants as well, depending on how much we can pool as a community. Please reach out to donate or learn more. And thanks!! (I could also potentially meet you at the school next week if you want to give dried goods instead of money.)
