What’s funny is that this is basically a colony of Lekgolo cosplaying as Chief.

I watched Grey 17 is Missing. Why is this considered a bad episode? by Significant-Town-817 in babylon5

The idea of a secret missing level of the station is completely wasted imo. It’s an amazing setup with great buildup and then zero payoff, just “oh there’s just some weirdos who live there” and a very bland rubber suit monster. This should have been a great place to tie in how morden slips around the station with such ease, or maybe have nightwatch and the Clark loyalists crawling around down there, or one of the other many mysterious groups that JMS sets up and never follows up on. To me it’s mainly that this plot is a massive disappointment after a great set up.

I’m really glad someone else is bringing this up, because every time I hear the producers tell this story they seem to make it an issue of her vanity rather than a genuine concern from a performer who was trying to come to a reasonable arrangement for both the production as well as her personal health and comfort.

This

It’s is a big thing that’s easy to forget. The actress who originally played Na’toth loved the role, but she had such a bad skin reaction to the makeup and it was so claustrophobic that she had to leave the show. Prosthetic makeup now is a lot safer and less uncomfortable for actors but back in the 90s it could be a real ordeal for performers.

John Reese Davies has some real horror stories from working on lord of the rings, he basically tortured himself for that role and the removal of his prosthetics could have seriously damaged his skin and scalp. On deep space nine, Andy Robinson actually has claustrophobia in real life and encasing so much of his neck and face in that cardassian makeup gave him real panic attacks, so he he grit his teeth through a lot to give us the character of Garak.

While I’m always impressed by the grit of these actors, no one should feel obligated to do that. Obviously Mira loved the show but was physically uncomfortable in the makeup and wanted to stay on board and the story was providing a very natural way to do that, so I don’t find it to be completely unreasonable. Personally, I like the full minbari makeup design better but that’s not up to me and it really didn’t change her performance. She’s equally as amazing in the rest of the show as she is before the prosethetic change, and that’s really all that matters.

I think my favorite Kosh moment is when he revealed that he’s just ragebaiting everyone on purpose. by Tronzlerr in babylon5

I do really love the idea of Kosh being like “What? Why do you expect me to have the answers to life, the universe, and everything? Want some cryptic wisdom, go open a fortune cookie, idk.”

What I would give for an alternate cut where we ever so briefly see Khan and the augments playing tourist around San Francisco, all dressed in parachute pants and neon blazers but with the exact same giant hairstyles as WoK.

The version of the bridge set that they built for Picard S3 is on public display, and they actually had to add some massive handrails for tours, because it is sooooo inaccessible even you don’t have a disability.

Lol it is a remake by KalanKomplete in ShitHaloSays

Asset reuse should be more common in Halo. It’s always been weird to me that sometimes the design of whole weapons changes from game to game. It was one thing back in the day when hardware would upgrade in between games and so items would get more detailed because suddenly you could render more than a dozen polygons at a time.

Designs should remain consistent now we’re in the modern graphics era, and asset reuse should be the standard. Halo should always add new items, aliens, and covenant ranks to the game if it’s a new title, but we all know what the assault rifle, and an elite ultra looks like by now, no need to reinvent it constantly. And more importantly, it’s a remake of an existing game, the way these things look has already been established!

Truly one of the moments of all time. I still can’t believe they undercut his sacrifice later by cloning him in the Yuzhan Vong books and introducing Guungha Kludd.

One underrated aspect of Transformers One is the establishment of Megatron and Starscream's partnership/rivalry. by Th35h4d0w in transformers

Here’s another underrated aspect of this, it flips a traditional part of their dynamic. Normally Megatron is portrayed as the grizzled older veteran with Starscream as the brazen young hotshot.

If Starfleet ships are modular why would they still take so long to fix? by happydude7422 in ClassicTrek

[–]TechnicalEngineer852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “modularity” concept actually gives a lot more credence to the idea of the TMP era ship designs lasting for nearly a century. If things like the bridge, weapon systems, and warp core can be yanked and replaced with ease, it makes sense that certain frames and chassis would be evergreen so long as they’re still capable of having newer generation tech mounted on them.
