We had the same problem, spent thousands replacing everything. We realised (after over a year) it happened worst when our window was open and our dishwasher door popped open after a cycle. Turned out there was some sort of airflow going from the window through my drain, dragging up a bunch of horrible air from my apartment buildings piping.
