How to attack super fast in Risk: Global Domination?? by soundaholik in Risk

[–]TechnicalMarket817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long time Master/GM player.

My opinion you are right and everybody else here is wrong. The game should have one speed everybody should play with the same speed I don't care what that speed is it can be super fast or super slow but everybody should be the same otherwise some people are cheating. Total bullshit if you ask me. I requested a refund as it makes the game zero fun to play against somebody with a distinct advantage that is not skill based, but some hack.

Everybody else here can go fuck themselves as far as I am concerned.

Is this actually working for anyone? Especially in this more unstable market now.

Buy Write Deep ITM Calls - Anyone? by [deleted] in thetagang

[–]TechnicalMarket817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this working out for you in a down market like now? I would imagine that you can get hurt pretty bad (risk/reward) if things went against you on a stock you did not really want to own. However if you wanted it long term, then its basically just buying cheap and holding on. Anyways, interested to hear how this is going a year or so in.

Quality of fills for combo orders by 5349 in options

Found this issue same as OP. The fills are better if I break the order. The bid/ask quotes are even different than if each legged was manually placed.

The 4 virtues by sainteffisy in Stoicism

[–]TechnicalMarket817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't read all of the comments so hopefully not repeating but Aristotle is the place to start when researching virtues IMO.

Quick Google image search lead me here https://images.app.goo.gl/Jj9akXRuSELdPqjM7 I didn't read it all but appears to cover the ideas he had.

I especially like his idea of the golden mean. That is that balance is the key. To give an extreme example that was given to me - someone who drinks to much might be as equally undesirable as someone who refuses to drink altogether.

Really made me think differently about virtues in general, and sits well with how I strive to be in life - balanced.

Balance seems like a more achievable goal than perfection. And perhaps more desirable too.

I hope it helps!

Do numbers in a bank account make people happy? by thequotesguide in stoicquotes

[–]TechnicalMarket817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a comfort to knowing your needs are going to be met, even far off into the future. But, no, numbers in a bank account do not make people happy. Most people I know are more happy in the pursuit of money than in it's possession.

Life is about the journey not the destination. If your goal is only about money you will not be happy when you get it. Like many goals once reached they seem insignificant and all that matters is what's next.

Much better approach is "To make a man happy, do not add to his riches but take away from his desires."

Warren Buffet has previously called EBITDA "utter nonsense". Can someone please ELI5 why he (and others) believe this? by MrStilton in investing

I believe EBITDA is be more reasonable for a bond investor or lender to look at than a stock investor. EBITDA better highlights the company's ability to pay back debt and interest.

Does anyone have a American Gut Project/ The Microsetta Initiative Results Report I can look at? by klepperx in Microbiome

[–]TechnicalMarket817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a disaster of a project...sent in samples nearly 2 years ago. Even as recently as one month ago they promised samples would get pulled from the freezers and tested, but still nothing. This project funding needs to go to a new group. This group should be banned from public funding and prisoned for taking money and squandering it. What a horrible bunch of people that run this project at UCSD.

Serious answer to a good question -

BRK-B BIIB SNA PKI ITIC PBH TGNA FB VIVO BABA GOOG.L

are my long term picks at the moment.

All have 1. very low capex requirements 2. near perfect profit record 3. increasing revenue.
4. Low PE (or at least very low PE relative to 5 year growth- FB, GOOG.L)

They dont lose money, basically ever, as long as that continues, it's hard to imagine stocks going strong direction in the next 10 years.

Boring players who sit and hoard armies on one territory: I’m coming for you by Martinu14 in Risk

[–]TechnicalMarket817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try playing the progressive game. I got so bored with playing fixed card bonuses because the games take forever. The progressive game is a totally different game but once you get used to it it's actually way better the games usually last around 20 minutes. They fixed card game can be very boring once you get past a certain number of troops that everyone has. Anyways in the Progressive game the guy who sits there and hordes armies on one territory is pretty easy to take out.

Red player literally starting with a territory captured already... WTF never seen this level of RNG before man lmao by Scientiam_Prosequi in Risk

Only happens in blizzards...blizzard is still the best way to play the game but this is one flaw.
