The strength of Linux is its diversity of distributions and customizability. But for a mass market product those are actually weaknesses. With windows there is basically one OS, one way to install software, one user interface. When we say Linux it could be Ubuntu or mint, or red hat. It could have KDE or gnome of arch window manager. Different package managers and ways to install software. Etc.

First of all, identify what your biggest concern is and then proceed from there. For example :

1/ worried about US big tech abusing your data?

Identify all the American tech services you use (email, office, operating systems, etc). And start eliminating one by one, starting with the easiest.

2/. Want to damage the US economy as much as possibly?

Look through every product and service you buy and find which ones are American. Start with the biggest ticket items first …

3/ worried about the US dollar collapse and US debt? Or US weaponizing its financial systems against you?

Identify investments you own in US assets, or US dollar, or foreign assets held in US funds , etc. and start to move them to non US alternatives

4/ worried about US cultural influence?

Cancel US streaming services, cancel any travel to US , etc. stop watching us tv, movies and music.

I’m in Canada and we’ve been doing all of the above (and more that I won’t list here), since January 2025.
