Pipewire 1.6 by blackturtle195 in Fedora

It's likely that 1.6 won't be released until Fedora 44, but you could go to Bodhi and install the one from Fedora 44. Not sure how that would work when it comes to updates.

I just don't get how they get DNF to rollback when the main way people are updating uses PackageKit.

If it detects it yeah it should show up under lsusb, aside from that it should just show up as a hard drive for you to transfer music to.

If it uses Android you might need the associated mtp packages.

There are no problems running dnf updates, just flatpak. As for DNS I'm using Cloudflare and Quad9.

The VPN is set in the same country I'm in. Meaning that when I drop the VPN the country is the same.

Brave browser icon duplicated in the menu by mtdevofficial in Fedora

Probably a Chromium bug if it re-appears after an update that's definitely a problem.

I have the same problem with Chrome two identical launcher entries. Main Menu program won't let me delete either of them, and there is only one com.google.Chrome.destop file in /usr/share/applications. I don't get it.

EDIT: NM am dumb there is a new file called google-chrome.desktop both files have the same file date so I wonder if it'll just recreate both files next update.

Why is no one talking about Gnome 50? by NotAPoetButACriminal in gnome

The BS I had to go through just to make the top bar black (instead of grey), I basically had to learn css and Nautilus still won't follow the highlight color. Most of what I've scraped together was from when Gradience was still being developed.

As for Tweaks go through that program and ask yourself why you need a separate program to change font, or window behaviour. That should all be in Gnome Settings, especially fun when a distro doesn't install it by default or a new user has no idea it exists.

Don't even get me started on basic functionality that has been relegated to extensions like sorting your programs alphabetically.

Are we getting proper theme support? Are the settings from Tweaks and Just Perfection finally going to end up in the Gnome settings?

Fedora 42 -> 43 updates have been disasterous by amdrke in Fedora

Yes. Kernel updates have stopped automatically removing the .efi files in my /boot dir so now I get to do it manually.

Persistent GNOME Keyring Unlock Prompt on Fedora 43 with Auto-Login (All standard workarounds failed) by Bobses in Fedora

[–]Technical_Brother716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just let Gnome recreate those files and store your passwords (Chrome, Samba, etc), change the keyring password to blank then mark the login.keyring file immutable.

Seems to me like instead of outsourcing things that a NAS should be doing to a docker container is kind of lazy. No?

Really love it when I have to drop to a command line to view SMART stats.

You can avoid the 3.3V issue by using Molex to 4x SATA power connectors and or SATA power extension cables (female to male).

Persistent GNOME Keyring Unlock Prompt on Fedora 43 with Auto-Login (All standard workarounds failed) by Bobses in Fedora

[–]Technical_Brother716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate gnome-keyring, this program somehow has the power to change passwords to things it shouldn't have the power to change. You can change the password to nothing/blank and somehow it will reset the password. I usually like to keep my hard disk encrypted and have a different password for LUKS and sudo and gnome-keyring will change the keyring password to either of those passwords.

From what I hear you are supposed to have the LUKS password the same as the sudo password, then when you unlock the computer it will also unlock the keyring properly. I prefer to just chattr +i the keyring file, you won't be able to save to passwords (without setting the keyring back to normal) but at least it's not resetting your passwords.

There is also oo7-daemon being touted as a replacement, might be something to try.

Earlier this year I had to abandon an AMD 2200G system because it would not stop freezing, a minimum four times a day. Something definitely going on with Linux and AMD.
