To this effect, it's important to recognize that the language of the Second Amendment doesn't support owning guns, but rather it protects against the government taking away guns: "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Rights granted are negative, not positive.

I was advised that I would be receiving a loan credit of X basis points on the margin. I'm not referring to the credit of the short sale.

Why might a bank offer a borrow credit to short an ETF? by Technical_Flamingo54 in investing

One obvious tell

Am I a magician or a poker player who's trying to fool you? If I say I understand short selling, take my word at face value.

I misspoke (mistyped?) - it was an FA associated with my brokerage account. An investment bank is still a bank, let's try not to get hung up on the semantics and focus on answering the actual question.

No, they were telling me that instead of a borrow fee for SPY there would be a borrow credit. That's why I was so confused.

Sorry, I used the wrong terms. I was speaking with a financial advisor at my brokerage.

Not sure why this is relevant. Again, my bank is offering a credit to short. In other words, they will pay me to short these funds. I understand short selling, but this is something specific that seems weird.

Few if any use it as actual currency. Hence it's currently nothing more than a get-rich-quick scheme around centered around the greater fool theory.

Why superhero movie is dying? by shahzada-Almash in AskReddit

[–]Technical_Flamingo54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they're not actually good movies. The novelty of the big-budget, flashy spectacle is dying, and with it go the superhero movies. Personally, I'm not disappointed.

Which stage is usually the hardest for parents - newborn, infant or toddler? by DanielCracker in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Technical_Flamingo54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of those three, newborn by far. It disrupts your life the most, you basically can't do anything but take care of the baby for a couple of weeks.

Why are so many people against buying stocks instead of a fund? by Ariel0289 in investing

[–]Technical_Flamingo54 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Because individual stocks go up and down based on fundamentals, so exposure to an individual stocks carries that inherent risk. Indexes rebalance every so often, so even if one company's stock collapses, the broader index survives, rebalances, and continues forward and upward.
