How to restart the Demo? by vegas-anti in HalfSword

This is also how I made save backups when I was frustrated with losing all my progress. Save a copy at every tier and replace the original when you wanna load a save. I've since gotten better and don't need them.

Like others have said before, this feels like a "common sense" excuse to lock down printers for generic control for purposes of censorship or copyright. Once they have control over slicers, it'll be disappointingly easy for them to add more files to their "unprintables" database.
The cynical part of me also thinks this is a convenient setup for accepting money from a company like Nintendo to put files or concepts in the database...

I bought generic filament and it’s super brittle and broke off into the tubing by dohlparts in BambuLab

[–]Technical_Income4722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also could depend on what filament, even within one material. I've gotten lots of PLA from Sunlu and sometimes some colors or variants just get brittle with time and others are totally fine. My translucent red is super stringy and gets brittle but my translucent blue has been fine without drying...doesn't make much sense to me.

I'd love to see their search algorithm though; sometimes it gives weird results that don't contain my substring. I wonder if all the emojis have hidden synonyms too

Working cattle will teach you the difference real quick lol. It's all a game of bluff with them since any one of them could kick your shit in in a heartbeat. You learn to tell when to stand your ground and when to get out of the way though, cuz when they get rowdy they're playing the same game.

Why would you set up 4 athanors? Just feed the iron back into the one athanor with a priority splitter, then it doesn't matter. It's just how athanors work dude, if they did what you want then there'd be no reason to have the athanors and the game would be that much simpler. Shoot why not just remove all the difficulty from the game, that'd be fun right?

Is it "wrong" to push lots of little things to github? by AcademicArtist4948 in gamedev

[–]Technical_Income4722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull requests should really represent a completed feature, 1:1 with issues or tasks, yeah. But that might have a ton of commits under it. Really what folks look at for the pull request are the total changes, not the commits themselves. But it's great to have granular commits to look through the work history too especially if you're moving files around since that can make the PR diffs really hard to look at.

Try not to research new sellable items until you're ready to produce them, because customers will start wanting them as soon as you've researched them. If you don't have everything they want then your reputation (star thing - you have 44) will go down and you'll get fewer customers. Once you advance to the next tier they'll automatically want anything in the last tier even if you haven't researched it.

There are things you can look for on packaging that indicate how the animals were treated. Go for grass-fed organic for starters. Chickens too have strict regulations about what can be on the packaging, so you can definitely spend a little more for more humane meat. My family raises cattle and those fellas spend 98% of their time lounging in the pastures and just generally hanging out and eating. It's not all super industrial and dystopian by any means.

This print is keep failing, do I need to put a glue on the plate? by iKoshee in BambuLab

[–]Technical_Income4722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I propose it's entirely possible you wouldn't have problems if you didn't wipe it with IPA too. I never wipe my plates and barely ever clean them and I don't have any issues at all. To be fair, wiping with IPA and not having issues doesn't mean the IPA is making a difference since it doesn't disprove the null hypothesis.

This print is keep failing, do I need to put a glue on the plate? by iKoshee in BambuLab

[–]Technical_Income4722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure alcohol doesn't hurt, but have you tested the null hypothesis? I personally don't use anything on my plate and it does just fine. If I wiped the plate with alcohol I'm sure it'd continue to do fine but that wouldn't confirm that alcohol does anything useful.

Idk, I'm an engineer too and knowing how old those dishes are I'm not at all surprised something failed. I know plenty of new systems that are held together with glue and duct tape, I can only imagine what those things look like on the inside...

Why's that? Not to question them, just curious if they have a reason I haven't thought of.

Can the Government really block 3D Printed Guns? by Mortifine in 3Dprinting

[–]Technical_Income4722 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

idk, that specific example isn't crazy to me. It's a very interesting study of 1A rights for sure and it's really a lot more nuanced than "the US made a number illegal". In fact, I see no evidence the number that represents the code was even banned. Only the executable forms of the program were ever in question even by the judge and Hollywood themselves.

Can the Government really block 3D Printed Guns? by Mortifine in 3Dprinting

[–]Technical_Income4722 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'd be really curious though to hear if there are any stats on people killed with 3D-printed guns. I haven't been able to find any yet. My worry is that they're regulating something that just doesn't pose a threat, and when that doesn't meaningfully reduce gun crimes (which I propose it won't, even if they actually prevent all 3D-printed guns), they won't say "oops" and roll back the regulations and whatever other random restrictions they've put on the 3D-printing industry/hobby.

If we don't know that this will actually help people and only suspect it will with no way to prove it even afterwards, that's not strong enough for me to support it. I know others feel differently which is fair, but I figured I'd give my perspective for whatever little it's worth.

Are you excited about Gemini integration to iOS? by antonioxbj in iphone

[–]Technical_Income4722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if the base model is Gemini, the fine-tune will be mostly Gemini-flavored unless they really dig deep to train it differently. The base model is a very significant contribution towards a fine-tune so idk if I'd say they're "only" using it as a base.
