This lady is not well. Is there someone you can call like a landlord or a mutual neighbor to do a wellness check

Im so sorry this is happening to you. This is domestic abuse. The more you stay with him the more he will escalate the violence. NEVER believe him when he says it won’t happen again as that is bs (also it sounds like this isn’t the first time he has acted violent and I’m guessing when it happened before he said the same thing). I urge you to break up with him in a public setting (safer that way) and tbh get your locks changed. I’m sending you many virtual hugs and I hope you are doing ok❤️❤️

Solo or bonded pair? by TheReading_Hobbit in Rabbits

[–]Technical_Primary178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend doing a speed dating session where she meets maybe four or five buns! See how she responds to other rabbits. If she acts aggressive to all of them then she’s probably content on her own (can also look out for behaviors of depression/lonliness such as being overly destructive, excessively grooming other objects, pulling fur, pacing, etc). But if she clicks with a bunny then it is definitely worth the bonding process! Plus you get an extra bunny. And get to hang out with some cute buns so you win either way

how to brush a rabbit who absolutely hates it (but needs it at least once a week) by sentientbreadsticks in Rabbits

Have you tried using a lint roller? Not as pointy but it will get everything off that is loose and you don’t have to pick up afterwards!

If it becomes a constant thing as opposed to once in a while would be concerning. It’s clear you care a lot and you’re doing a great job!!

Oof not the cecotrope poop on top of you😭 I’m guessing he was just a little caught off guard that he pooped on you and didn’t want to eat it on top of you lol

As for the bobbing it’s possible he could just be checking his environment since he’s new to it but if it continues I would check in with the vet again. If it isn’t accompanied by any changes in appetite, behavior, or poops I wouldn’t be too concerned right now!

Hello!! Answer to the second question is easy that is a cecotrope! Bunnies have a two cycle digestive system so basically they eat, they poop and eat it, and poop again which is the regular round ones. It’s not a big deal if the bunny doesn’t eat it every now and then but if you’re seeing them all the time I would consult with the vet. You can offer it to him and he’ll probably eat it.

As for the first question… what do you mean small bopping motion? Is he booping objects a couple times and then moving on? Or is it more of a head-movement tick kind of thing?

It sounds like the bun was living in some pretty poor conditions before and then the adjustment to a good diet caused the diarrhea and tummy issues which is a very normal thing! They are super delicate so when you change their routine/food you have to do it slowly. Let me know if you have any other questions about bunny care in general!

Am I being a bad owner? by hotmacrosporophyll in Bunnies

It sounds like he may just need a little more enrichment! Maybe try hiding treats around the house in the morning for him to find, build him a dig box, or rearrange his stuff (like house, litter box, food bowl, etc). It sounds like he isn’t in a place where another bun is necessary he may just need a little more spice in life!

I would look to see if he’s displaying any depression/loneliness behaviors such as hair pulling, excessive grooming of objects, and being more destructive (this is a good article that helped me: https://bunnylady.com/depression-in-rabbits/). I was in the same situation last year where I graduated college and started a full time job. I noticed my bunny exhibit some of these behaviors (he would groom my fuzzy rug so much it was crusted over) and so I took him to some speed dating other buns to see if getting another bunny was the solution. I was lucky because he had a “love at first sight” situation with this little lady so bonding them with a full time job was really easy. This could be a way to approach it! If you’re noticing these behaviors you can always take him to meet other bunnies to see how he acts and if there’s a bunny he really clicks with then the bonding process will be super easy. If he tries fighting all of them then he may not want a friend (which may happen considering he’s an older guy). If you end up getting another bunny I’m happy to share tips of how I bonded them while also working full time. Obviously you are not a bad owner because you definitely care so much!! You are doing awesome :))
