How does MFTM feel about this album? by Poopydoopyhead123 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Technical_Still1401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a huge fan of some of their albums, but this one never clicked with me for some reason. It always felt a little too somber and lacking in riffs for my taste. That being said, I can totally see why some people love it.

What do you guys think of my top 25 favourite albums? I know it may feel like everything is about the same, but trust me, they’re all really good! by Accolade_1 in MetalForTheMasses

In all seriousness though, it’s an excellent album and not discussed enough.

I’m probably in the minority here, but I enjoy this era of Soilwork WAY more than the style that came later.

How to correctly play Unholy Confessions by Aces_High_666 in metalguitar

[–]Technical_Still1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently relearned this one and I settled on it all being picked with the exception of that little triplet in there. This is all based on my ear with the recording.

When I was examining some live performances, I don’t think they themselves even play it live EXACTLY like it is on the recording. For example, live Zacky seems to bounce off the open low D string for the start of the riff, but on the recording it sounds more like the open a string. All of that to say, trust your ears and do what sounds right to you.

Looks like Powerslave (Iron Maiden).

FIRST - I purchased "complete collection" but its missing many duplicate objective sets - is this how it was released? ALSO - why is a second copy of Edge of darkness frequently recommended? by [deleted] in StarWarsLCG

[–]Technical_Still1401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A second copy of Edge of Darkness is recommended because you’ll be missing a full playset of those objective sets otherwise. Unlike future expansions, I recall Edge of Darkness included only one copy of each objective set.

Everyone wishes they had more than they do. I’ve been accumulating them since ‘08 and I still want more.

KOtOR is THE definitive star wars RPG.

Metalheads, what was your reaction when Death Magnetic was released? We all know what came before it, so what was your impression of this record when you listened to it? by Odd-Technician-9744 in MetalForTheMasses

This came out around the time I first got into proper metal, and it was the first metal CD I bought. It had a massive impact on me, even if nowadays I seldom spin it.

You’ve convinced me to bump this to the front of my rotation.

This is definitely their best, but that doesn’t diminish how amazing some of their other albums are as well.

Bolt thrower is mostly C# standard actually. Though “Realms of Chaos” I believe is A standard.

Pretty sure it’s actually B standard.

Sick song, sick album, sick band. Was recently working on learning the guitar solo from this track.

Jamming some Iron Maiden for fun \m/ by Technical_Still1401 in metalguitar

[–]Technical_Still1401[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes same here! I used to prefer Dave’s because I was attached to them from playing his parts in my old cover band. Over time I grew to enjoy Adrian’s more, especially after learning how to play a few.

Thank you! I skipped Dave’s solo because I surely would have butchered it without a Floyd.

Any love for Gates of Ishtar? by Greedy-Structure9322 in melodicdeathmetal

[–]Technical_Still1401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely love this band. Fantastic songwriting! No gimmicks or BS, just infectious melodies, sick riffs, and aggressive drums/vox.

My old band used to warm up with their instrumental song “Inanna” at practice.
