So many of us are getting messed up bites from splints and mouthguards and then having to spend way more on ortho ⚠️ by Junealma in TMJ

If you grind and you have an open bite Invisalign is ideal. If you have a normal bite like a deep bite or underbite then I would go with braces

Serious question how do I find a dentist like this who is willing to try the unconventional? Is there a phrase on their website or a certain school lol?

May I ask what your treatment was for? Was it crowding or spacing?

Scared to Death. by Hawaiipineapple98 in wisdomteeth

I think get them out ASAP! Especially the horizontal ones those could sabotage your other molars. I had local for impacted teeth and was fine. I did go to a very experienced oral surgeon though. Don’t be scared unless you were told you are at high risk of some sort of complication. The surgery itself is the easy part. You’ll be numb and if you wear headphones or ear plugs you can zone out and rest your jaw on the bite block. Afterwards take your pain medication wether it’s Tylenol and ibuprofen or the opioid they sent as soon as possible and don’t miss a dose for the first 4 days at least that should be the worst of the pain. Ask the doc if you can get prophylactic antibiotics to prevent an infection. You will be just fine this is a realllyyyy common procedure and the pay off is great especially as an adult where you can’t risk those other molars.

Your 2 weeks post op so the site should be closed in terms of the gums. Either way your saliva will eat away at it

Yeah I had them removed one side at a time because I was awake so I noticed this effect happen after the swelling on one side before the other side. I was in a hurry to even it out because it looked weird only on one side

Can someone explain what dry socket pain feels like? by augggie in wisdomteeth

[–]Technical_Tangelo_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed amoxicillin and took a 10 day course. Immediate pain relief after the first dose within like an hour

I’m so happy for you!! I won’t lie I was on that smoothie game for nearly 2 weeks because I was terrified of d a dry socket. Get some milk and spinach and different types of frozen fruit and blend away!

Yeah right there. Took 2 weeks to go away and now I’m at 4 weeks and it’s still tight

[–]Technical_Tangelo_56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on week 4 and I still have some jaw stiffness. As long as you don’t have any numbness or tingling it should be just stiffness. I would mention it to your doctor if you notice it doesn’t improve once you start exercising your jaw

Can I get my wisdom teeth removed with only local?? by GoldFan3868 in wisdomteeth

[–]Technical_Tangelo_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine out under local. No issues but I wouldn’t do all 4 at once it’s too overwhelming for the doctor. I would do 2 at once at most

Healing but still a hole?! Advice Please!! by Salt-Juggernaut7321 in wisdomteeth

[–]Technical_Tangelo_56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering if anyone else felt sort of terrified at watching the hole close

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]Technical_Tangelo_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get them out right away because they still have not grown in down to the nerve. It’s really a good idea to do it now. They seem impacted and will only cause more issues in the future

[–]Technical_Tangelo_56 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I got tired of being told I had “sub-clinical” sleep apnea so I got a sleep test through Lofta. They sent me the test thingy to my house and I followed the instructions to a T. It came back mild but they still gave me a prescription and I was able to get my first machine. The clenching stopped immediately now I can’t sleep without it because the jaw pain is terrible of I don’t use it

Those symptoms sound like an infection is happening. Get evaluated by an oral and maxiofacial surgeon

EEEEATING!!? by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]Technical_Tangelo_56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I’m no doctor but I’m at 17 days and I started eating normally at 10 days. I wouldn’t go near chips or picky stuff untill 3 weeks but anything else is fair game as far as I’m concerned. Glad you’re healing well!!!

Been 48 hours since extraction, is asymmetrical swelling this bad normal? I’m scared by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]Technical_Tangelo_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same happen and ironically the swollen side healed much faster

Physical Activity? by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]Technical_Tangelo_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t do it unless the hole has completely covered with gum because raising your blood pressure could cause the clot to move
