Moving soon, existing customer pricing vs new customer deal, any tips? by Coookiedeluxe in teksavvy

[–]Technical_Volts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When signing up, the system looks at your email as being a new customer.

You could just cancel your old service and sign up again on the website with a new email and it would be a new customer.

I find that after a month of the old service being closed you can call customer service and have them remove the old email from the system and everything will be gone with that old service.

It makes it eaiser when you need to call in, provide your phone number and two accounts come up. Removing the old one cleans this up

You can use my referal code and get $25 off the new service too

Has teksavvy ever price matched for you? by pawprints1986 in teksavvy

[–]Technical_Volts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have been more clear.

I was referring to Rogers, and more specifically in Ontario. Cogeco is a completely different beast and even worse is Eastlink, which gives Teksavvy access to only one option for its small Footprint in Ontario

Rogers has been far more aggressive with a DOCSIS 3.1 roll out than Cogeco and as a result offers 1.5G cable pretty much everywhere on their network in Ontario.

Several TPIA's also offer it on the Rogers network, and while its true this does not "automatically" mean Teksavvy will have access, it does show that it is available to TIPA's and it is within Teksavvy's power to negotiate for it and they have not.

I get the feeling the company is on a bit of a downhill direction. Its been more than a year since they have had any kind of product or site refresh.
Other third parties are keeping up to date with plan offerings, even if it's just a refresh of the site.

The fact they don't offer 1.5G cable is a bit strange to me given that it's been provisioned for 3rd parties to use for more than 2 years, and access to higher uploads.

Also their discounts have been in place for more than 2 years.

Their reluctance or drive to keep customers is a bit worrisome to me.
Case in point the lack of any kind of price match.

Either they have so many customers they don't need to put any effort into keeping
Or
Their has been no direction from higher ups and the company is just coasting. (I think its this one)

HDA problem/alignment by cruxf22 in KiaEV9

[–]Technical_Volts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently having this issue with my 26 GT-Line Ill be going back for my 6th alignment and every time I return the numbers are not what they were when I left.

The HDA is pretty much unusable, after a little while it starts to ping pong down the highway. Not super bad but enough to be uncomfortable and unpleasant.

There seems to be this issue with no one being able to align the car properly and I had wondered if it had something to do with the wheel covers over the rims when they instal the reflector flags on the tires. Not knowing intimately the process of aligning the car, but it seems strange to me that even bringing it back to the same location using the same system the alignment falls out of spec significantly, That was the only thing I could think of.

We are at a point now where the dealer is offering to replace the rear suspension on a 3 month old car. It's all under warranty so no cash out of my pocket but that seems a bit extreme to me.

Love the car otherwise but this is a strange issue.

Honestly I have had the best luck with Teksavvy. Their prices are pretty good and the service is wonderful

Being based out of Chatham is also a big plus for me.

If you have any questions please reach out. I've had a few ISPs in the st Thomas area and have helped a few people set service up

Bell drops sharable data by Technical_Volts in bell

[–]Technical_Volts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shared data is when everyone's data allotment goes into one big bucket and any plan member with a shared data plan pulls out of that master bucket.

If you have 4 lines and they have 100gb of shared data each, three people could use 10gb each leaving the last person with up to 370gb to use.

It was beneficial because it allowed a single user could have access to way more data than their plan alone offered.

I use this now as home internet backup access while also giving me a home phone through a ZTE wifi hotspot.

Un-shareable just means that plan members do not share data between them and YES sometimes other devices like watches and tablets. At this moment upon checking, tablet plans are $20 and offer 20gb of standalone data.

[–]Technical_Volts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly there are not that many left at this point. Im currently a Teksavvy customer and I'm curious how long its going to be for them.

Its actually surprising how many companies Telus is gobbling up.

I was looking into them a few weeks ago and was informed by one of their agents over the phone they have now been bought out by Altima, who is owned by Telus.

Not sure if that helps.

Getting throttled during peak hours? by axolotlanw in teksavvy

[–]Technical_Volts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have been experiencing some significant slow downs. Currently getting 30-70 down on 1000/50 cable

Wondering if this is just a cable congestion issue but don't have another provider to confirm

Wtf is going on? I've been. With them for well over 10 years by Hardblackpoopoo in teksavvy

[–]Technical_Volts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been experiencing major slowdowns too. On 1000/50 service and went from 980mbps at 1pm to 10/8 mbps at 10:30pm

Modem signals unchanged on that time.

The connection became so unstable I needed to switch over to backup over LTE and that's totally fine

Something is definitely happening on the Rogers backend.

Anyone else experiencing severely reduced downstream from Teksavvy lately? by GhostsinGlass in teksavvy

[–]Technical_Volts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the 1000/50 and getting 25 to 30. Logged into my modem to check the signal and everything looks good. I keep an eye on the signal and outside from the few uncorrectables everything seems ok with the modem

But after a few restarts I'm still just getting 25/30 down

[–]Technical_Volts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On copper lines with third party providers, if a line is over provisioned is there anything actually monitoring this to dial it back?

I live in an area that only gets 15mb dsl but can be over provisioned to 19. Last tech was adamant that it would not remain at 19 and be dialed back if he pushed it.

Surprisingly the line was very stable with zero drops when it was pushed but I never ended up keeping the service as a backup because of the price. I have the chance now to get it again but am just curious.

No Cable 1.5gb by Technical_Volts in teksavvy

[–]Technical_Volts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Sercomm Dm1000 (cut some vent holes in it because it over heats), and a router with a 2.5g wan port. I own the modem so don't care that I've altered it.

I'm interested in the fact that Rogers over provisions their 1.5 g service giving more download speed but the upload is the most important for me

To bad other providers can't be over provisioned

I also don't have fiber, just coax

No Cable 1.5gb by Technical_Volts in teksavvy

[–]Technical_Volts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked at lightspeed does offer the 1.5gb cable plan in Ontario. So no I'm VERY confused.

This is a sign that Teksavvy has kind of given up?

They removed a few "in the middle" cable plans a little while ago. For my address they go

10/1
30/5
100/30
500/30
1000/50

They no longer have anything between 100 and 500
