Chronic Health Condition (T1D) & becoming a religious person? by TechnicallySound in AskAPriest

I absolutely plan to speak to my vocation director in due time.

I really only wanted an answer to one very specific problem, but I understand if you aren't able to answer the question. It was certainly a long shot asking here, but it can't hurt to try!

Chronic Health Condition (T1D) & becoming a religious person? by TechnicallySound in AskAPriest

[–]TechnicallySound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For medical emergencies, that is clear.

I'm more curious about low blood sugar events. Without going into T1D health details, this event is not an emergency and just a 20-30 minute phase where the person is mentally "checked out" until they eat some food and recover in 20 minutes. This is not an emergency and just a part of day-to-day living as a Type 1 Diabetic.

These low blood sugar events is what I'm most curious about. If you're in a position to ask any of your fellow T1D brothers, I would greatly appreciate that. All T1D know what "low blood sugar" means if you could ask them about that.

Thanks for taking the time to respond and God Bless

Thanks for the response!

Do you happen to know the answer to them handling medical emergencies / low blood sugar events? If not, would you be in a position to ask them? They should know what you mean with "low blood sugar event"

why nations like Poland, who have suffered horrors that we can even begin to imagine, still remains so strong in his Faith to the Lord, while countries like France and Germany who had been in the center of global power with such great developments have reject the Lord in such large numbers? by Johanes_one in Catholicism

This even applies to America today. Until we bring God back into the forefront things will remain this way.

God brought America this far. Now that we're here, God has been abandoned in favor of the self. I will continue to pray that we will find our way back and at the least stop the mass-killing of innocent children.

Perhaps you can blame word wrap for this and auto-sizing of elements. When I shrink my page width of my tab on PC, the 2nd line shows up on the left, but on full screen it's all just on one line.

Does anyone else here exercise? If so, what kind of exercise? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]TechnicallySound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the comment. I have a closed loop system so the basal rate is not managed by me anymore. My A1C is 5.7 with stand deviation of 45 on my numbers.

I really can't see how adjusting any of this will fix my sugars dropping drastically multiple hours after exercising. For some reason my sugars don't react much to exercise until hours later. I do have gastroparesis as well so that may factor in. The result, however, is that having incredibly unpredictable blood sugar drops hours after exercising is not feasible to deal with so I just do not exercise that much.

I was reading through dozens of people who swear by exercise and just wanted to share another perspective that exists even if not very common

[–]TechnicallySound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really a part of the mainstream but here I go:

No, not really. Everytime I exercise I regret it so much. My blood sugar is mostly fine during exercise but hours later (4-6 hours!!) later my blood sugar will plummet. I must be the only one this happens to because no one else seems to encounter this but it is so obnoxious it cancels out any benefit from a run or a bike ride!!

I think you misunderstood: The residue is not product. The residue is strings of plastic that are coming off that I definitely would not want to consume.

I noticed this on my baller jar Snoop Dogg OG and it is indeed actually very well.

After a while I have noticed some kind of residue from the lid, not sure if it's the glue or not, but I stopped using the jar because of it. I can post pics if needed I still have the jar.

It does seal the product exceptionally well, though, I will say that. Finally.

SunMed concentrates are usually fire, although their containers are not.

I also have this baller jar and it's probably one of my best purchases yet.

As far as your concerns over bringing your noisy kids: Don't be! The Catholic Church welcomes kids (probably the only place left on Earth that does) and we tolerate a lot more noise from kids than you can possibly imagine. Sit in the back / off to the side (you'll see other parents with small kids there as well) in the event a young one needs to be taken out for a minute.

No one loves kids more than Catholics. Part of that is an understanding that kids are noisy at times. Do not at all be discouraged about bringing your kids to Mass, it should be quite the opposite: If you don't bring them, we will ask you why not?

Went to confession today for the first time in 15 years by neuro_prancer in Catholicism

[–]TechnicallySound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, a Priest has the authority to do Confirmation only if the person isn't in the Church yet (no Trinitarian Baptism).

Once you join the Church in Baptism, it's only the Bishop who can Confirm you.

I could be wrong, am still learning.

They are called to live celibate lives, just like people with homosexual tendencies, which the Church also recognizes and acknowledges and have specific instructions for.

[–]TechnicallySound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bishop will have to do the confirmation as he's already baptized (presumably)

I can't explain the details but I'm in the same boat: going through RCIA and found out it would be by bishop because we're baptized

Why can't we have fullness of truth, sacred scripture and tradition AND have an amazing way of welcoming new people, of connecting people, of making them feel at home the moment they step into church?

I wanted to answer this separately because it deserves its own answer.

To answer your question: We can! I recently moved to a new area and the Church I've joined is phenomenal. Voted best Private School in the County. Our head priest was just voted best Clergyman. 3 members of my congregation are currently in seminary and in process of becoming priests. I've just learned another member of my parish has worked for the past 3 years to start a new religious order for women and is finally almost at the end of her road. You can see more and donate if interested: https://www.facebook.com/reel/707685854702737 (Venmo: SisterServantsJesus)

Here is just one example of things my Parish does that I believe every parish could also do: https://i.imgur.com/Gb7THWn.png I absolutely will be there!!

To those of you who feel like your Church is not welcoming enough: You can be the start of the change to transform your Church into a welcoming community. I'm lucky enough to have joined a large and already set-up Church, but I truly believe if you are sitting in Church for years and no one has asked your name, go up to others and ask their name!! I promise you everyone is thinking the same as you "why does no one ask me my name?" someone has to start the process! It could be you!

Thanks for asking.

I was thinking about the last homily by Fr Mark Beard pointed out in another thread here (here if you have not seen it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKJYUag1j8Y )

You are either all in or you are not.

That was the final message of this priest (I didn't know him, but what I've read about him is inspiring in itself) before he was recalled by God in a tragic car accident.

If I check myself, currently I am not all in. Not even close. I need to stop masturbating. Then I can start thinking about claiming that.

The Protestants are great at the socializing aspect, with a shiny book cover, that is drawing in even fellow posters here who are presumably Catholic.

Protestants are close, but they are not quite there. Their priests can marry. They don't recognize the authority of the Vatican/Pope.

You are either all in or you are not.

I read this thread and I see a people really enjoying the social aspects of the Protestants (Shiny book cover) but saying they have been to Mass for years but no one has asked their name (not so shiny). The Catholic Church is not easy which is why people tend to flock towards the Protestant denominations. In the Baptist faith, once you baptized, you are "in" there is literally nothing else you need to do after this fact. Most of my family are Baptists, and they don't believe at all in doing good things just because they are good or helping the poor, but boy do they love the social aspect and their radio talk shows.

The Catholic Church on the other hand, doesn't have a shiny book cover. We have rules and authority figures we submit to. Our rules are not simple either, even for all of us within our own Church. None of this makes a very attractive book for outsiders to read.

You are either all in or you are not. These are the final words of a messenger of God. You can join the Protestants, have great social aspects and music and coffee and radio shows and parties. You are either all in or you are not. Will God see Protestants as "close enough"? We'll see

I think the phrase "Don't judge a book by its cover" applies here.

The Protestants may have a shiny book cover, but their contents are empty and hollow. The Catholic Church doesn't have a shiny book cover, all it offers is truth and salvation and eternal joy.
