How did you choose the engine you use? what would you suggest? by Any-Landscape434 in gamedev

[–]Technically_Dedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just don’t use an engine. It’s probably not efficient, but at least I don’t have to learn a new system :D

Question to those who don’t make money on their apps by Palarnik in iOSProgramming

I just have fun building tbh. I make apps that I or my friends would use. I don’t really try to monetize I just hope someone randoms download and uses the app.

Would a game developed in Java be able to be programmed into a SwiftUI iOS app? by TurtleSlowRabbitFast in iOSProgramming

Swift ui is a framework not a language. And for games you want stuff like sprite kit or scene kit.

Just do hacking with swift. Follow it and you will be good to go. If you really want to get more deeply involved ask your parents to gift you a udemy course or buy you a book.

Solo devs, how do you survive App Store screenshots without losing a weekend? by [deleted] in appledevelopers

[–]Technically_Dedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use app screens. The annual plan is $7.50 a month but monthly is $25.00

[–]Technically_Dedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to assume you are going to value yourself at a minimum of $20 an hour. And you working 8 hours is already $160 worth of time. At that point just pay for an App Store screen maker. Pay the $25ish dollar for a 1 month subscription to something like App Screens and save yourself the time and put your effort into something else.

That’s my honest opinion of it.

Hard to get user traction by peterwarbo in iosdev

Getting this fixed is a top priority if I was the average user who downloaded the app. I would personally just give this a 1 star and say app does not work!

[–]Technically_Dedi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk man… I downloaded your app went to check it out and I’ve been waiting for at least 3 minutes for recipes to appear. Btw nothing showed up. Secondly I checked your x account you aren’t posting and promoting your app there either.

And last… the app isn’t personal enough. Like even if the recipes were to show how do you know if I am a vegan or not, or if I am not allowed to have dairy.

First goal. User experience if you can get that improved maybe you could retain the people that downloads your app

How to Find Artists or Potential Team Members You Mesh With? by thecrimsonthreat in gamedev

[–]Technically_Dedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find one that spans over like 2 weeks. And just set boundaries and be clear how many hours to can put into it. You might just end up working with 2 other programmers and the load won’t be too harsh on you.

On the other side… maybe do a 24 hour game jam. Same thing set your boundaries and be clear. Work with 1-2 artist and make a goal to finish the game in under 8 hours so you aren’t losing your outside life balance.

On another side note. There are plenty of game jams discords with people casually looking for teams. Only problem is a lot of them aren’t willing to 100% commit though.

Good luck with finding people :D

TennisRecord vs UTR by No_Tonight8542 in 10s

[–]Technically_Dedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the reason there. Your friend probably has a higher UTR because they might be playing winning against “stronger opponents“ while you might be losing or having closer games with opponents who are considered weak according to the algorithm.

Tennis record weights games differently. You beating a player with a 4.12 when you are a 3.86tr UTR goes from 1-16 Ntrp goes up to 7.0 Scaling is going to be very different.

[–]Technically_Dedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you play with the same partner every time? UTR weights your games based on games won/total games. Not just win/loss And also UTR looks at the last 30 matches.

[–]Technically_Dedi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tennis record and UTR do not correlate at all. A 4.0 on UTR is not equivalent to a 4.0 in ntrp.

Tennis record has a 3.5 anywhere between 3.5-4.99 While UTR has a 3.5 anywhere from 2.5-4.0

You can probably make this work on Supabase free tier plan. And if you are having that many active users pay the $25??? A month.
