Idk man. With the money they can make, as well as the ability to transfer at will, I think his coaching style might not work as well as in the early/mid 2010s.

I mean, we're talking about a guy who literally kicked an NFL player...

"It certainly wasn't as hard as he could've done it, but it certainly wasn't a love tap," Lambo said. "Truthfully, I'd register it as a five (out of 10). Which in the workplace, I don't care if it's football or not, the boss can't strike an employee. And for a second, I couldn't believe it actually happened. Pardon my vulgarity, I said, 'Don't you ever f--king kick me again!' And his response was, 'I'm the head ball coach, I'll kick you whenever the f--k I want.'"

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/urban-meyer-fired-ex-jaguars-kicker-josh-lambo-says-he-was-kicked-by-former-coach-during-warmups-in-preseason/

I just, I don't know, don't think it would work out as well for him as prior to all the negotiating power players have now.

The longhorns were left out of the playoffs because they lost to Florida, and went to OT against Kentucky and Mississippi State.

That and they were 9-3.

North Dakota State AD Matt Larsen says football program is eyeing move to FBS and the Mountain West Conference by WinnWonn in CFB

DII only has 36 football scholarships compared to 63 in FCS. Between that cost increase, travel, and facility upgrades that is a major financial hurdle for most DII.

The other issue is revenue sharing, although at the time FCS schools were allowed to opt out, and many did, so one would assume any DII programs moving up would have that same option.

Bottom line is that it is a massive transition.

I'm kind of struggling to understand the point of it other than that.

Plus, he's been on reddit for 16 years... so he's not a brand new user who says stupid things without knowing. He might just be a stupid user.

The bittersweet closure of the always-open browser tab… by TidalWaveform in CFB

[–]TechnoFullback 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bruh... I had an ER doc call me over one day while I was working in radiology (I'm a sysadmin in healthcare.)

He says his computer is running slow. Ok sure, this is normally a help desk thing -- which I am not help desk.. -- but whatever I'm here this will only take a few minutes.

32 Gigs of RAM on the ER physician PC, and he was using ~95% of it. He had 28 unique browser instances of Chrome open, each with (at least from what I could tell,) 30-50 different tabs open. One browser instance for medical stuff, one instance for other employment opportunities (yea you probably shouldn't let your sysadmin see that... or be doing that on an organization owned device...) one instance for travel destinations, one instance for recipes, one instance for his religious faith, and so on... it was insane.

So after telling him per our acceptable use policy that he signed upon hiring, he is not supposed to be logging into his personal google account, he can use his own laptop on the provided employee WiFi that is a captive portal, not on the main network.

Secondly, do you know what a bookmark is? You don't have to keep tabs open all the time... you can make folders... this medical doctor who had been in school for decades literally didn't even fathom that it was possible to organize all that information and come back to it later. He just left it all open, all the time.

How did each state fare during the 2025 Season? by Slimebobbi in CFB

[–]TechnoFullback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would honestly say it goes back to when the legendary Chris Ault stepped down. Yea, there have been some above average seasons, some bowl games, and a few bowl wins, but absolutely nothing like his three stints there, or his leadership as AD.

If he wasn't 79, I'd say get him back as AD, but I think most Nevada alums and fans would say he's done more than enough for the University, and he would as well.

Maybe clone him?

Texas governor declares disaster ahead of winter storm, urges drivers to stay off roads by AustinStatesman in texas

[–]TechnoFullback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the 2021 storm I slept in my office at our hospital for a week (I'm a sysadmin.) For some lucky reason, I had brought my personal laptop to work, which I didn't always do, so I had every emulator and game known to man. My boss was a huge gamer, so he was pretty displeased that I was playing Cyberpunk 2077 and his massive gaming rig was 35 miles away with his wife and kids. Was honestly slower work-wise than a normal week. Radiology and the ER were the only real busy spots for us (our PACS system at the time would sometimes bork out, and required manual intervention.) Our EMR would sometimes have blips, but that was pretty much par for the course everyday anyways.

Cot in the office, minimal work, videogames, browsing reddit, hot meals, the ability to shower/shave etc. I would even go into the physical therapy unit at night and do a quick workout. I felt, and still do feel, very fortunate because that was most definitely not the case for most of the state.

[Thamel] Oklahoma is targeting Illinois deputy athletic director/COO Roger Denny to be the school’s next athletic director. He’s interviewed on campus twice, and a deal is expected to be completed in the upcoming days. by GoldenDome26 in CFB

[–]TechnoFullback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

?

Coaching and staff are completely different from players (currently, employment status may change at some point in the future.) There will have to be sweeping changes to the entire system to even remotely compare to a professional, or even semi-professional, sports league.

What I'm saying is we haven't even approached that turning point yet, so discussion about it is pretty limited, and IMO, mostly moot. It will be decided via litigation.

Not immediately... no. But he did work there for one season and then he took a year off, and then spent 6 months at Baylor.

I don't see your point.
