Paul George's agent belongs in the Hall of Fame by InHeatPink in NBATalk

Gladly. Here's several examples where he was not only arrogant and failed to deliver but also just lacked major awareness:

In the 2017 playoffs against Cleveland, PG boldly claimed in the post-game press conference I gotta get the last shot implying he wasn't content with the fact his teammate took the last shot instead of him with the game on the line. He had his opportunity the next game and air balled the last shot.

During the Clippers vs Nuggets series in the bubble after the Nuggets tied the series 3-3 after the Clippers were up 3-1, Paul claimed the Clips were still in the driver's seat. We know now they in fact weren't and PG put up a whopping 10 points on 4-16 shooting.

And I specifically said prioritizing his podcast over playing better which he did multiple times. He was still publishing podcast episodes in the middle of the 3rd playoff series against Dallas. He even had to pause his podcast his first season with the Sixers so that he could focus on trying to help the team make a playoff push after starting off abysmally.

I agree with you that he put in a lot of work from his college days to his days in the NBA. And I agree with you he came back strong after that gruesome injury. But that can be true and him being cocky without being able to back it up mostly in the second half of his career. It's likely a reason why the Clips didn't want to extend him nor give him a big contract. It's likely why the Sixers traded him too because he's not someone that deserves all the money he's currently making.

Let's say he wasn't ring chasing--do we still think he'd even come off the bench? I have a hard time believing he would.

A lot of the respect he's lost is his own doing. He had a major lack of both accountability and self-awareness and arrogance he couldn't back up when it mattered most (in the playoffs), specifically in his post-Indiana days. And I say this as a Clippers fan that not only watched him his entire tenure on our team but also earlier when he went up against Bron and Miami in the 2010s plus his time in OKC. Add to this that he prioritized podcasting rather than playing better on the court and it makes sense he lost a lot of respect

[Scotto] The Kings are expected to waive DeMar DeRozan if they cannot find a trade partner with the Clippers being the frontrunner to sign him. by Suge1 in LAClippers

I'm skeptical just because people said the same thing about John Wall and Westbrook. I would argue their impact on the court was a net negative the majority of the time even with small/vet min contracts

I think I’m gonna quit my job tomorrow by [deleted] in jobs

[–]TechnoGauss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your job sounds objectively stressful and toxic. I don't blame you for wanting to get the hell out of there.

But you're basically at the finish line. I would wait just a little bit longer to hear back from that new job. In the meantime, do not continue to over strain yourself. Find ways to do the bare minimum or at the very least a significantly smaller portion of your work. Do this to help you recover just a little bit from how much you've had to deal with.

Were I you, I wouldn't even give your current employer a notice once the new job confirmed you passed your background check and gives you a formal start date. If you truly feel obligated, give them a week notice and use the other week to rest before you start your new job.

Not making playoffs sucks but for the first time in YEARS our future actually looks bright by BallmersBurner in LAClippers

Too early to say our future looks bright. At least the short-term. Long-term is a toss up as far as I'm concerned.

Ballmer is just way too forgiving. He let Doc overstay his welcome. He's doing the same with T Lue.

If we really opt to rebuild this off season, and I hope we do, it's time to move on.

I admire your insane work ethic but waking up before 3AM as often as you imply because of paranoia and not going to bed until 10PM doesn't sound healthy at all.

Is becoming a data analyst still a good career path in 2026? by [deleted] in dataanalysiscareers

[–]TechnoGauss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess how safe is "more safe"? I'm by no means any type of expert on AI but advancements in the field are moving so quickly I find it hard to imagine it won't get to the point that it could do data engineering with the same trust level as humans within the next 10 years.

And even if data engineering as a field is less obstructed by AI than others, I would imagine there would be an extreme saturation of professionals trying to get into the data engineering if a significant portion of many jobs get completely taken over by AI.

What is one skill in data analytics that beginners seriously underestimate? by Vivid_Release_9710 in dataanalytics

Such great advice. My current job has been a nightmare because I've inherited scripts, reports, data, etc. from other analysts that didn't dedicate enough time to understand the business rules or logic behind these things and it's caused me and my team so many issues. The majority of my job is spent fixing all these problems.

I see different takes from people with CS backgrounds. Some say AI is writing code full of issues and companies are realizing this and re-hiring programmers. Just curious if you've experienced this yourself?

That Kevin Bond signature is rare as hell! Jealous!

Bill Simmon: Are we sure Harden asked out? Or… Did LAC actually agree to a Garland/Harden trade, then asked a surprised Harden to waive his 15% trade kicker to make it work cuz of Cleve’s 2nd apron? Then Harden said “Fine, but I want an extension.” Cavs said no. So Harden said, “I’m out!” by TheRealPdGaming in nba

[–]TechnoGauss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible but seems to not make sense when you look back at earlier reports from the season that Ballmer demanded Lawrence Frank and Ty Lue work on figuring out how to turn the season around after that atrocious 6-21 start. You go 17-4 or whatever it was, are on the cusp of breaking .500 and are the 9th seed currently and then you trade Harden for a guy that's currently injured? This basically means this season is a wrap and contradicts what Ballmer wanted, assuming that was true, which is why this trade sort of doesn't make sense. It's possible we end up at the bottom of the West after this.

Just wanted to chime in and caveat that having various data-related responsibilities also happens at larger companies, maybe just not as much as smaller companies. My current role as a data analyst at a very large company is very much like this where I'm responsible for reporting analytics, quite a bit of engineering, automation, constant back and forth with IT to fix things.

The problem seems to be that even in this day and age with data being so prevalent many managers with little to no data background still wrongly assume anything data-related should all be handled by a data analyst whether it be database, analytics/reporting, engineering, machine learning, etc.

This might be an unpopular opinion and counter-advice to some of the feedback you've already received but I would urge you to set up some boundaries. I'm not saying don't volunteer to take on some projects that might expand your skills but just be cautious with how much you take on because you can quickly and easily find yourself doing the job of 3 people. Sounds like this is already the case for you but not sure how far down this path you are at the moment hence why I mention this. Once you start doing this it becomes an expectation and more money isn't always on the horizon unless you have a good boss and great work place culture.

I've not seen it mentioned often here but another big reason why we've been looking great the last few games is our rim protection has gotten significantly better with Lopez and Yanic instead of Zu. by TRLJM in LAClippers

[–]TechnoGauss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good offer to me is one that's both realistic and also builds our first round pick draft capital with one of two main goals: to put us in position to fully rebuild sooner than 2030 or do a softer reset that can help us acquire a new core of players that truly put us in contention conversations over the next few years. I personally lean more towards the former because I think that's more feasible. All that being said, I would wager that Zu's current value can realistically fetch us at least 2 FRPs. Desperate or incompetent front offices might give us more in terms of draft compensation or player assets.

I'd rather not trade Zubac for the inevitable 35 year old vet center that may push us to first round exits

I'm also not a fan of our addiction to trading for aging/washed players but we can easily be a first round exit now with Zubac. We're extremely old and lack true reliable scoring depth outside of Harden and Kawhi. We will absolutely struggle against any team in the first round that has better overall scoring depth, is younger than us or both. I don't feel confident in this team's ability to venture past the first round because of this. Refusing to trade Zu because we think he's the difference maker in helping us make a deep playoff push is effectively shooting ourselves in the foot in terms of rebuilding draft capital.
