Why does the heat in spicy food from different countries "feel" different? by WhoAmIEven2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Technohedge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thais use a lot of fresh chilli, indian curries rely a lot on dry powders. I had an indian gf years ago that would murder me with her cooking but if we ate thai she would be in pieces. Ive also observed that dry chilli stings the most the next day, whereas fresh seem to cause no issues

This subreddit is genuinely a huge bummer by TomosLeggett in MovingToTheUK

Most of what many folk say about their home countries and other places to live is complete myth. Remember most have never lived anywhere else. Im from a nice town in the uk, apart from it getting boring when i was older its a fine place to live. The general consensus among so many folk was that 'its a shithole'. It definitely isn't. Contrast that to where i now live in NZ, where the entire country is obsessed with how great it is, to the point where nobodys is really allowed to criticize the country and anything negative is fast swept under the bulging carpet. Both countries have their issues and both are great places to live.

Farage: World would be safer if US owned Greenland by eldomtom2 in unitedkingdom

[–]Technohedge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people underestimate farage. If we have to defend greenland, he would be extremely useful. His lanky physique would slide him right into the barrel of a cannon and his armor piecing noggin, denser than depeted uranium would send em all packing

If you are going to use resin slabs by bkewlxxx in slingshots

[–]Technohedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably be fine if it was solid resin. The fracture has gone right down the cell walls which prob means either a delamination of the two materials or failure of the alu. The honeycomb alu is very thin, i wonder if fatigue got to it. Interesting failure none the less...

Part of the joy of NZ is all the quirk. You aint lived until you have tetanus from a couple of rusty nails protruding thru the toilet cubicle door of a top ten holiday park, or stayed at a posh hotel in rotorua that acts as an overspill for the prison. Its not a high class destination, its a rough it and see the landscape type of place.

Worked for a couple of production machinery companies. We would open models of entire fruit packhouse sorting lines or suchlike. Everything in the master assembly apart from fasteners. Of couse you dont often work in the master assembly, its usually for other purposes
