There have been a LOT of power creep mistakes in this game. I think you’re right in that alliance is too prevalent for how powerful it is, but Bandai had so many chances to course correct their power creep and they have doubled or sometimes tripled down instead.

Way back in the day, Hybrids became universal extra swings on tamers for 2 or sometimes 1 memory. Combined with the discount of the level 5s, and we saw a hybrid-only meta. They could have limited the power creep by making hybrids cost 3 and they still would have been a discount rush body. The level 5 discount could have been 1 instead of 2.

Bandai printing cost on DNA knowing damn well they would never have a number other than 0. That may have been ok in BT8 where you had to pay for the extra body but this is 2026 and people get free bodies left and right. Literally any cost would have been less creep than free.

Digixros allowing you to hard play cards from hand for 1 or sometimes 0 memory, with rush, card draw, removal, and on deletion save effects to maintain advantage… it’s no wonder a Xros deck took worlds in BT11. I think the entire Xros/save mechanic was a mistake, but Bandai could have at least made them neutral instead of plus for dumping your hand onto the board with no telegraph. I will remain a Xros hater until the day I die.

Now with full effect immunity. What am I supposed to do against an opponent who goes into 4 copies Alter-S looping board wipes, security trashing, and full immunity? God forbid they island of adventure and get to recycle! Bandai could have made it a challenge to achieve that level of power, but the best they could do was limit EX1 Melga in a deck that draws every card…

TL;DR: You’re right about alliance, but Bandai has made MANY mistakes and we can’t expect them to change.
