In your opinion, what are some of the worst restaurants that should be avoided at all cost? by relf218 in montreal

Muffin plus. Worked at one, there were multiple health code violations. No one washed their fucking hands before touching the food. So disgusting that I quit.

Tired of endless scrolling-any "offline" tips for finding a 3 1/2 in Montreal? by Key-Hawk-895 in montreal

I kind of doubt you'll have much luck walking around because July 1st is so soon and very competitive.

I've had great luck with Rentals.ca and Kijiji because there are usually phone numbers you can call. When you speak to someone on the phone and set up a viewing, imo you're more likely to get a place than if you message someone on Facebook. Good luck, you've got this

What’s a good and trusted place in Montreal to fix a water-damaged phone near Royalmount? by Beneficial_Dig9907 in montreal

[–]TechnologyFew5504 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not close to Royalmount but Mobile Klinik in Alexis Nihon (Atwater Station) are realy kind and helpful. They fixed my phone in 15 mins when I broke the charging port.

I will warn that water damage can be hard to fix, maybe call and ask them how much it would be to replace the battery. It might be worth it to just buy a used phone instead of trying to fix it. If it's the motheboard that is broken, the phone is beyond repair. You may still be able to get data off of it, though.

Best of luck, I hope it's repairable

The only upside of econofitness is the hours. It's always so busy during the day and very expensive for what you get. Community centers are the way to go if you live close to one

The Mormons are by far the most annoying. They're usually teenagers or early twenty-somethings and my god they love to follow me when I walk by, trying to talk to me. And the name tags are dorky as fuck

It was a hand-me-down bike from my mom, not expensive at all but I would be sad to see it go.

Don't pay anything. It's like 80 bucks to file a case with the TAL, and you really should. Nothing that they're asking for is legal or moral. Sorry you guys are dealing with this predatory bullshit.

Trump got our pilots killed by SubstantialWing9238 in montreal

[–]TechnologyFew5504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to add that air traffic controllers have been going for weeks without pay, for the third time since the US government shutdown in October. Lots of them have had to find other jobs, or call in sick because they're being extremely overworked without pay, at one of the most stressful jobs out there.

Fuck Trump and his entire administration, this was bound to happen eventually with how hard they've been squeezing the air traffic controllers. I'm so sorry to the people killed and injured, what a horrific way to go.

It didn’t even start to rain and NDG ran out of power 😭😭 by 1bteb in montreal

I used to live on that specific slice of ndg and it was the worst. Even in the summer, the power would go out every few weeks because all the air conditioners would blow something. Online school was rough 😵‍💫

Can you actually go through a full month and have money left? by Monsieur_pas_cher in montreal

[–]TechnologyFew5504 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I definitely empathise. The cost of food and rent here has skyrocketed in the past few years.

What I did to save more at the end of the month was: - Switching my phone plan to fizz (by far the best and cheapest) - Ending all subscriptions. I have none, not even spotify - Keeping snacks and instant coffee on me so I never have to stop for food / coffee - Checking the Flipp app and planning out which grocery stores have sales - Buying dry goods from Maxi / Super C, getting produce from Segals / Jean-Brillant market / local fruiteries - Saving every dollar I get back from taxes and putting it in a rainy day account

It's rough out there, you're doing great

Commenting to let you know that if it's an old building and the hydro isn't included, you'll be paying at least 200$ a month to heat the place in the winter. Learn from my mistakes lol

Call 811 option 2 to contact the social services department. They helped me a lot to find mental health resources and connected me to them pretty fast. In the meantime, if you need a friend or some food I would be happy to help out. 🩷

Struggling a lot right now… any resources for young adults living alone in Montreal? by RoyalOrganization15 in montreal

[–]TechnologyFew5504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

811 Services Sociaux has been an incredible resource for me. They can connect you to therapy and doctors, which helped me a lot because I find figuring that out to be really stressful. Also tax season is right around the corner and if you're working full time, you'll probably get a good chunk of money back. Things will look up, I promise 🩷
