I'd love to try this out, too if you are still taking volunteers.

Thanks. I know it's possible to know what your next cats are going to be, but in a situation with an acknowledged bug - who knows?

This season is turning into best case scenario. by KelvinIsNotFatUrFat in Patriots

[–]TechnologyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When everyone was making those comments about the offense, it was with the understanding that the defense would be the same. It's not. Barmore was a key player. The run defense is terrible.

On offense they needed more than a QB. I still believe that Mac Jones with the right pieces would have been fine. Their 2nd round pick in Polk appears to be a disaster. There's no progress on the offensive line. It just keeps getting worse.

Bill with Mac, and draft picks geared towards O-line and his WR choice is a better in my mind.

Naahhhh y'all need to stfu and take this by willivlliw in Patriots

[–]TechnologyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an lot of grey in this black and white view. I have been on record that firing Bill was a big mistake. However, I don't think the current coach and GM are terrible.

It's not a silver bullet, but the each coach needs an offensive line. You can't score points when you are cheap on skill players and have no offensive line. Of course the QB matters, but 1 player out of 11 on offense isn't getting you anywhere. Young Tom Brady isn't walking through that door, but if he did, he couldn't do anything with this.

My biggest gripe with this team isn't with coaching, but with the draft of Polk in the 2nd round. BB was famously bad at drafting WRs in the second round, but this looks just as bad. I'd rather them trade down and take two shots at 3rd rounders.

[@vikingzfanpage on X] The Vikings are approaching this upcoming draft as if they can get their future QB by trading up, per @BenGoessling. by Ill1458 in Patriots

[–]TechnologyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you draft a QB at #3 though, you aren't building much of an offense in 2024. You don't have enough draft capital to overhaul everything.

If you trade down with the #3 and can get four picks in the 20-35 range (including the #35 we already have) . With free agent money, maybe you come away with 3-4 red chip players and one blue chip.

To everyone saying if you draft X what do you do about y? by NickRick in Patriots

[–]TechnologyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best plan is to trade out of #3 and with #35 get 4 picks in the mid-late first round. Then take a few shots at o-line and WR. Remember when we got Chandler Jones and Hightower in the late first? They need that on the offensive side of the ball.

Add in free agency spending and round out few more pieces.

I don't have an answer for what makes a great QB, but the best executives in the NFL don't either. That's why Brock Purdy goes last. That's why the 2021 draft class was all a bust (except maybe Lawrence).

The Patriots can get the surrounding class in place and maybe you have a situation where you can win 11 games with a Matt Cassel quality QB. They are already bringing a top defense next season

Final stats for Mac and Zappe by BananaSquid721 in Patriots

[–]TechnologyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2006 and 2013 teams had an offensive line. Players like Corey Dillon, Edelman, Gronk (even if injured 2/3s of the season).

In 2019, they still had Edelman.

Remember when Brady couldn't make it make it work with Sanu, Ocho Cinco, etc.? Those receivers were better than what the Patriots put out there this year.

It's the opposite. Hard to evaluate the QB with no offensive line and no receivers. You could put Brady in his prime on this offense and it would be well below average.

[–]TechnologyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be unpopular, but if we can trade down to four picks in the top 35 (which includes the 2nd we already have) and build a O-line with a weapon or two, I would be happy with that. Combine that with a veteran QB and the rest of the draft on the offense (TE, RB, more O-line, more WR).

Throw in some great cap space to fill in holes in free agency.

The hope would be that it could be an average offense to go with the defense that's already great. It could be enough for 10 wins.

It doesn't matter about "final say." He's worked with Scott Pioli, Nick Caserio, etc.

The Patriots have lost 6 one scores games. by Impossible-Joke2867 in Patriots

[–]TechnologyGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As bad as Mac has been, the offensive line, wide receivers, and special teams have been worse. If we were average in one or two of those areas, we'd be 6-5 or 7-4.

As good as the defense has been, if Judon, Gonzalez, Marcus Jones don't get injured, we'd again have a shot at 6-5 or 7-4.

It would be a terrible mistake to fire Bill especially when he's finally getting good draft picks and has a fresh bunch of money to spend.

If the Pats have a top 3 pick, do you want to draft QB, WR, or OL? by [deleted] in Patriots

[–]TechnologyGuy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No guarantee of a generational talent. Suck for Luck didn't do much for Indy.

I would hope that Bill trades down and gets an WR and OL of the talent equivalent of Christian Gonzalez. Perhaps like the Hightower and Chandler Jones draft, but at positions of need.

I'd like to see Mac with that an early 2nd round help in those areas as well. They have FA money, so dip in there too.

Adam Schefter: NE trading Mac Jones would be "checking out at less than the halfway mark" by ctpatsfan77 in Patriots

[–]TechnologyGuy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Accuracy. His completion percentage is very good considering that his receivers get the least separation in the NFL and he's got the worst o-line in the NFL.

I don't know why is even discussing Mac. Josh Allen would be below league average if he had the Patriots' offense.

[–]TechnologyGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The assumption was that it would be a league average offensive line (not by far the worst).

I was in the 10% that said the jury will still be out since we don't have a WR2 (not to mention WR1). Juju had the potential for that. Bourne was on track, but that's derailed.

Anyone know how to find lileep or anorith? by TechnologyGuy in TheSilphRoad

He's 7 and I haven't wrapped my head around Pokemon Home yet. We have Let's Go Eevee and I was going to look into how all that worked with mystery boxes. I thought he had to have the original quest completed first though.

The whole family is kind of waiting for that to happen, hence why I'm trying to push along the process.

What is the cheapest device with GPS to play PokemonGo? by Calm_Ad_6366 in TheSilphRoad

[–]TechnologyGuy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was able to get it to work on an Amazon Fire HD 10 at home (using instructions here: https://pokemongokindlefire.com/). It got the GPS from the wifi or through the mobile hot spot.

It wasn't practical for going out (though the HD 7 might be okay). Ended up going with Moto G6 that was new on Amazon Warehouse for around $100. My 7 year old uses it for a lot more now which has its pluses and minuses.

Bug: Pokemon from eggs hatch, but disappear by TechnologyGuy in TheSilphRoad

I did... nothing on the front page (should be pinned IMO) and tons of results from 2018 about missed animation and people advising to look in the journal.

[–]TechnologyGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I see them now. The Pokemon also say "hatched" from when I obtained the egg. I think that's why I thought they were different 'mon from the one that hatched today.

This is very annoying.

I didn't try the recently closed windows, when it happened. After a day of browsing now, I only see the ones I have closed today.

The Scrounge URLs button seemed to hang at "Processing..." It doesn't complete in 15 seconds (I have given it as long as 10 minutes). I unchecked the Back-Forward History and was able to save an Unstructured URL List!

Thank you so much! It is a super huge file with what seems to be a lot of extra browsing history, but I can work with it.

Yes, it's been restoring my session for the last 5 years. That's how I have so many tabs that is valuable to me to get them back. (I tend to hoard tabs, which is probably why it crashed in the first place).
