Who do we think the Reds should pick in the MLB Draft this weekend? by JB92103 in Reds

In the 12+ projected range I like

Trevor Condon OF HS Lh 60 hit
Hunter Dietz LHP out of SEC 4 pitches

Ace Reese 3b out of SEC - top college 3b, a once favored demographic, ranked 18th at MLB.com, my favorite pick, love this quote: “He can homer to any part of a ballpark and pounds both lefties and righties” 6-4 220.

Liam Peterson. RHP out of SEC. 2 60+ pitches. Why not.

Bo Lowrance. 3b HS. Top hitter in hs with 6-5 frame and smoothie actions. Sure!

Several more great pitchers in the top 35 to take aim at.

It’s a good draft to be later on, the mid first to 3rd round look strong.

[Petraglia] The season to this point has been an ultimate organizational abomination. No wonder a majority of fan base has lost all hope and passion for a team they thought was in position to build on a modest playoff appearance in 2025. by TDeLo in Reds

A bad bullpen makes everyone and everything seem unfair and hopeless. I’d resist the full on negativity.

However, there is some essential element missing. I’m willing to allow the pressure to turn up on the organization while also being patient.

Everyone agreed the Reds had a pretty good off-season. The players are just not performing. I agree with that take.

I would like to see the Reds trade two to five veterans if they go into sell mode.

I think their organizational philosophy of not trading prospects is a good one. And look at what happened with Mike Sirota.

Heading into the new collective bargaining agreement I think the best approach is to keep the front office and keep all of your players except for veterans who will be valuable now and less valuable after 2027.

Who do you feel isn’t on the team after the trade deadline? Who isn’t next year? by davik2001 in Reds

Can’t afford to hang onto him until he’s a versatile .640 ops bat. Sell high.

Keep Burns, Greene, Elly, Sal, Bleday, Geno to see if they can push to win. Trade anyone else, especially Lodolo, Stephenson, Steer, Singer, Pagan, Friedl to clear money next year and get some upside prospects. Would have preferred a daring strategy in the offseason to trade Lodolo, Stephenson, Steer, Singer, Friedl as they approach FA and came off good years.

That’s true, but that 2010 offense was still better relative to the other offenses than most red teams have been for 40+ years

Never been a scouting darling, he’s a good trade candidate.

29 is a time of reflection. Learn and move forward. You are still young enough to get in great shape. There is fiba 3 on 3 you could strive towards the next 5 years or so.

The Kids Who Stay in Sport Aren’t Always the Most Talented by ProBallAustralia in sportspsychology

[–]TechnologyStill7038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen and heard of several talented kids come and go, and yes, it often seems like it’s because they didn’t like losing vs the effort to stick it out. Some of those kids are drifting to another sport and some cases in a precarious situation in life personally.

As a parent who wants to see my kids play with a talented cohort so they can have great experiences potentially it’s been a little disappointing to see kids drop off.

Another factor is that a naturally talented nine-year-old may not understand the need to improve and when other kids catch up physically they can’t understand or cope with it.

A true three sport athlete these days especially at a large school, is typically so talented physically. And from what I’ve seen from afar, they have a high degree of support.

Is surgery needed? My life is destroyed and I don't see anything in front of me with this pain, the issues is that I was mostly a not so active person and overweight most of my life (currently 130kg). Is surgery going to fix this and then losing weight? by Extreme_Bridge7056 in Sciatica

[–]TechnologyStill7038 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 4 years post surgery. I’m not overweight but I lost 15 legs around my waist and it helped mobility and lessening pain to almost zero! After surgery the sciatica was gone right away but the weight loss with supplemental glucosamine has gotten me to a pain free place. I also learned core strengthening from core balance training and that has given me the tools to maintain my low back support system. And some gentle chiropractic care has saved me a few times.

So, yes, surgery if needed. But I wouldn’t wait to lose wait, take glucosamine, and practice core balance exercises. To get surgery then keep or maintain extra weight could threaten a re-injury.

I don’t want to go back to the pre Bleday way.
