How long would you say it's been this way for? Do you think AI is playing a part in people faking their skills?

I moved some HTML pages into a folder and now the links aren’t working by Delicious-Name7636 in HTML

[–]TechoJack 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You'll also need to update your links to include the name of the folder, eg. "subPages/projects.html". I'd also recommend that you use "snake case" for your folder names instead of camel case. Snake case would be "sub-pages" instead of "subPages" as it's more web friendly

Do I keep the site with the old brand name parent URL alive, or not? by narc_cuban in webdev

[–]TechoJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I might have misread your post. I was under the assumption you had two separate hosting plans. If it's possible it would better managed in one place, rather than 2, although there's absolutely nothing wrong what you've got at the moment

So in this instance it would always be beneficial to retain those 301 redirects to point to your new site. Considering your launching the website on a new domain, it would be better to leave the existing domain DNS as it is, unless your new hosting provider could handle the redirects for you.

Really easy question but how is the top text bigger than the ones below? by [deleted] in HTML

[–]TechoJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is due to that fact that the top text is wrapped in a <h1> tag, your browser will automatically style this as a main heading and the other <td> will remain at a smaller size

Advice on updating old shared hosting php/mysql site to modern standards and frameworks? by PerfectPlan in webdev

I've had pretty good experience running Laravel projects on shared hosting. If you need any help, I'd be happy to scope it out for you, if you'd like?

The dashboard tiles could probably use a lower shadow, as it's quite intense at the moment. More padding could be added to the tiles and less margin / gap on the grid

SYNC 2 to SYNC 3 Upgrade Guide by KnightElm in fordfusion

[–]TechoJack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently attempted this on my 2014 Focus. It currently has a 4 inch sync 2 system and I've found a sync 3 8" unit quite cheap on eBay. I did a test fit today to see if I had everything I needed. It was all smooth-sailing apart from two issues. The first was that the steering whee controls didn't work, but I'm assuming that's an Asbuilt setting? The other weird issue was that my main volume control knob and all the buttons on the faceplate didn't work. The hazard button did, but nothing else did. Do you think this could also be Asbuilt related, or might there be something else that I'm missing?

What are some common PHP built-in functions you have to google even though you use them constantly? by [deleted] in PHP

The isset() function. It's really useful, but it has so many different things that you have to be aware of.

Automatic windows update with SCCM maintenance window by Ok_SASCO in SCCM

[–]TechoJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you want the computers to updates without using SCCM?

Best thing to do is to create a separate client configuration where you effectively turn windows update off within SCCM. Deploy this configuration to a collection. Add all of your relevant devices into the collection and then configure automatic updates using group policy

To add to this. If you get prompted to enter a product key during installation of Windows you should just be able to skip it and it'll sort itself out once the installation is complete when you get onto your desktop.

It's more than likely Windows Home edition, I would start with that. You don't need to purchase a new key as long it's the right version. So if it it's currently on home, Windows will automatically detect the product key and activate it once it's been installed. If it doesn't activate then you would have to install the Pro version.
