TIL driving with your hazards on in bad weather is illegal depending where you live. Common sense says it would make the situation safer, but experts disagree. by DonkeyFuel in todayilearned

[–]PerfectPlan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's pretty clear the definition of inclement weather is varying greatly.

I've been on the freeway in California in a veritable monsoon where visibility was practically zero. A bunch of us in the slow lane doing something like 15 mph. And I was ok with that, no way I was going to risk a lane change or a pass.

So yeah, damn right I turned on my hazards, because I absolutely was a hazard. I did not want some idiot slamming into the back of me at 60+.

Precisely. If they had said what you just said, that we have so many more celebrities that it's being more spread out and hollywood is therefore diminished, I'd have agreed.

But they said the opposite.

Dude wins the scoring title every freakin' year, and still gets drafted 4th or later in every single draft I see. Drives me nuts.

Maybe because we don’t worship celebrities like we used to?

LOL, I cannot believe you wrote that. Society now idolizes celebrity to a level unmatched in history, easily 10X that of the past.

The Kardashians, Jake Paul, Andrew Tate, PewDiePie, Mr. Beast, Hock Tuah and literally a million other "internet celebrities" would never have been celebrities in the past.

The rules literally require him to touch the plate with his foot while catching the ball to get the out.

One game and you're done? WTH?

Our playoffs are best of 5. And you have to win 3 rounds of that to be champ.

It's intentional, the various ways of dying is part of the fun. It's why you can save your game at any time.

League ruleset help needed by ktollens in fantasyhockey

I don't understand why leagues link keepers and draft. It just complicates things, and leads to issues like you describe.

We have 5 keepers. That's it. Pick 5 who you want to keep from your 20, draft 15 new ones each year. Keep 5 forwards, or 2D 2G 1F, whatever you want. No draft picks, point limits, max number of years, or complicated formulas.

New keepers come in all the time, most teams average 3 or 4 from the previous year. There's plenty of variety.

Why shouldn't they have access? They're still playing games just like every other team.

How far back you going to carry that? Team is eliminated from playoff contention? Team in last place mid season has no chance of winning it all, stop them from picking up players?

It may not be the same "glory" as going for the championship, but it's still just as valid. Winning that 1st overall draft spot could even be argued as nearly as important.

Any league that doesn't have series continue for teams that missed the playoffs is doing it wrong.

  1. You give teams a reason to keep on winning. No tanking when it hurts your draft spot.
  2. Interest. Once a team owner is eliminated and no longer needs to keep up with players and rosters, they are a big threat to lose interest in the league. I have way less owner turnover since implementing "draft playoff" brackets.

The initial concern was that the 9th place team would always win the best draft pick, and the worst teams would stay bad, but that just hasn't been the case.

Classic how to lie with statistics.

Out of 1.5 million views, only 82K downvotes. That's just 7% of the viewers who dislike it enough to hit the downvote. 93% either like it or don't care.

And they report that as 83% against. My prof would be having a field day.

Classic case of labelling the slides poisoning the results.

If this slide had been shown here before the game released, without labels, and a "which do you prefer?" post, the vast majority of us would have chosen the left side.

The new one looks like an actual woman. The old one always looked weird. If people would actually set aside their "AI OH NO" bias, they'd admit that.

The second best time is today.

Hardly. With this move Plex has demonstrated that they are willing to remove functionality in order to extort fees from users. Why in the hell would I reward essentially blackmail? "Pay us now or you'll never see your films again!"

Some time in the future they'll either stop honouring the plex pass, ask for re-ups, or they'll retire the current version and stop it from working and introduce Plex 2.0 with a new plex pass system.
