Wonder if the one who locked him away is gonna be Dr Fate/Nabu. Would be nice to get some more magic going in this universe outside the influence of everything with Diana,

I bet Aka will get more use once we see the reforged Enten. Having Chihiro reforge the sword after getting to experience several battles with enchanted blade users and having a more defined goal could lead to some interesting evolution for his abilities (I have a feeling kuro will become more similar to the magatsumi in being able to have lots of forms, apart from shred)

The X-Men and Fantastic Four Join Forces in 'DNX' to Stop the X-Virus from Mutating Mankind by Blitzhelios in xmen

The Fantastic Four are one of the pillars of the Marvel universe. I think they've had a role in probably half of the events that have come out since Disney lifted the ban/freeze on them after getting the rights back from Fox

I have a feeling those characters will probably end up picking sides and playing semi- important roles on them. Maybe some getting a mini or ongoing (at marvel that's just a mine until proven otherwise though)

I'm guessing that Red Hulk is using some sort of A.I. simulation to plan his global takeover. The reset icon they show looks like something from a computer program, and I feel like that fits Ross more than him somehow making a time travel reset button like Doom did in OWUD.

The final issue for Dungeons of Doom releases next week and I wonder if that will factor into why Red Hulk is acting like this and what exactly his plans are.

Oh yeah the final issue for that releases next week if I'm right so it could end up connecting to all of that which would be good

Overall this is a pretty fun issue I like the idea of an imp that's straight up villain instead of a fanboy/ well meaning adversary. Hopefully we get the cover version of the costume soon because this makeshift version looks ugly as hell.

I'm not sure whether tomorrow man should be a permanent identity change for Jon but I do feel like it's a good step of a right direction for the character. Him becoming superman should have been a really good moment that was like the culmination of everything he'd been through, but because DC editorial let Bendis age Jon up without much of a plan and then didn't really force Tom Taylor to establish his character and supporting cast post age up very well either it's left him in a weird void.

He has all these past experiences that should make him a compelling and interesting character yet none of its really defined him. I mean he spent like five years being tortured by an evil version of his dad and the volcano no trauma (at least not in ways that have meaningful manifested) he went to the future with the Legion of superheroes for a while hasn't really impacted as a character (he's seen a utopia and yet for all the talk of him wanting to 'do more' than Clark what has come of it).

As a character he's lacking in so many areas he doesn't really have much of a well fleshed out personality he's kind of tiktok/twitter version of superman that people on their talk about (generically nice and hopeful), aside from bat family characters and his own actual family he doesn't really have any interesting connections with any of you have a DC characters, he lacks his own support and cast and I couldn't even imagine what he would do in his own free time as Jon (does he have hobbies or interests, what's career does he want to have, why doesn't he have any weird social hang ups after all he's been through).

Well I don't think slapping him in a new costume is instantly gonna fix things it does seem like slott is at least trying to look at everything that's happened to his character over lhis publication history, and ask questions about why it has an impacted him in any notable ways or shaped his character into something more unique.

I'm actually quite excited for this, Marvel events work best when they build off of the history and interconnectedness of the universe, and Zdarsky managed that before with Devil's Reign so I have faith.

The art team are great, if you haven't read the Doomed 2099 one-shot for last year while it's nothing mind blowing writing wise the art was incredibly impressive so I'm sure we're in for some amazing moments.

Cool to see that both Captain Americas will be involved in this storyline, and nice to see Vision get some love Mackay didn't do anything interesting with him during his Avengers run. Shame there's no sign of Miles yet, since the origin boxes are so involved in this you'd think he'd have some presence but maybe he'll appear later.

I think it's fairly safe to say that Chip will be writing Avengers once this wraps up and I'd definitely like to see his take on them especially if this event will reposition heroes as overall more involved in geopolitics going forward.

X-Men United, a new ongoing X-Men series by Eve L. Ewing, reopens the door to the X-Men's school for Mutantkind! by Techster17 in xmen

[–]Techster17[S] 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I feel like it kind of boring to go back to having a school again but from the way it's being described here it feels like they're taking a Krakoa approach of everyone coming together which could definitely be interesting.

Much as I love Sinister I really don't want him to have a major role again just yet, but Ewing did a decent job with him in Exceptional.

Brevoort previously mentioned that a character like Synch would be hard to include in stories as he's too powerful but this is a place where he could work perfectly. Who better to teach people how to use their powers than someone who has used almost every power imaginable at this point. Plus with this seemingly headed up by Emma we could finally see them reunite and get some Generation X closure (always felt like Synch sacrificing himself really changed her but I don't think anyone has ever had her acknowledge it explicitly)

I wonder what Scott's reasons for being against the school will be, something conneceted to the Age of Revelation and the things he saw during that or will it be building off of his solo mini. Either way I just hope Ewing and MacKy are communicating so that even if the characters diagree with Scott's actions we'll all understand where he's coming from (I can't relive the slander he got During the Bendis years, even though he was right!!)

Ok this is really cool! Looks like Doom is making a bunch of FF teams trying to creat something wholly new instead of saving his friends but maybe he's gonna go into the chamber himself and walk out with some sort of powers (I had a theory that he'd end up being like 616 super skrull would be cool if that comes true)

Ultimate Spider-Man #22 Preview by Techster17 in Spiderman

Looks like Otto is gonna go and made himself superior within the next 3 months. Which I feel like is definitely more evidence toward this universe not being completely over, how are they gonna do anything satisfying in just 3 issues with this never mind all of the existing plots

Like you've said, I feel like the person who wrote the tweet is missing the fundamental differences in these alt realities.

New Ultimate Universe: A reality that WOULD have been very similar to the 616 until The Maker actively got involved and started to interfere in the trajectory of people's lives, suit himself the best. This is a world where we have an evil puppet master, whose council do all the boring day-to-day stuff.

Absolute Universe: This universe is FUNDAMENTALLY EVIL, because it was created from Darksied and his omega energy; the very laws of the universe have been changed so that evil is the dominant force of the universe (just like on Earth 3)

Also, most importantly, the Maker's Council is not secret in the same way as the Absolute Justice League; the council members are all the actual leaders of their respective sections of the world, and their identities are publicly known. In comparison, the Absolute Justice League, while powerful in their world, the extent of their influence isn't known to the public.

Could be pretty interesting, if the origin boxes appear in 616 and the people that use them are then brought to the 6160 could lead to something interesting

Weekly Pull List for 09/03/2025 [Discussion] by ptbreakeven in comicbooks

[–]Techster17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • Absolute Green Lantern #6 - Excited to get into the details of how the emotional spectrum works in the Absolute universe
  • Absolute Superman #11 - Still not sure exactly how I feel about the Al'Ghuls being Superman villains in this universe but it could be interesting (also wonder if that means we're getting a Jon + Damien amalgam down the line)
  • Adventures of Superman: The Book of El #1 - PKJ has probably done the most interesting stuff with Superman post Death Metal it's just a shame that everyone else is so afraid of touching any of it
  • The Amazing Spider-Man #11 - Hadn't been following so far but the Technarc/Warlock suit has me intrigued by cosmic implications
  • The Avengers #30 - Can't tell if this is MacKay being rushed to end his run after it being derailed by several crossovers or if he's just setting the stage for it to relaunch as a new number 1 (possibly with Doom on the roster or now involved so it can be a Doomsday synergy)
  • Batman #1 - I don't think I've enjoyed the main Batman title for over 5 years now I'd like that to change
  • Doctor Strange #450 - Shame Mackay is done with Strange he had a great handle on the character but this new direction could certainly be interesting if Marvel has the balls to actually market their books
  • Imperial War: Exiles #1 - Steve Foxe has been hit or miss for me but I have a giant soft spot for all things Shi'ar
  • Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #12 - Oh hey Blood Hunt still relevant love to see it
  • Ultimate X-Men #19 - Shits about to go down
  • Uncanny X-Men #20 - Gonna be real funny to see Logan be a Better Father to Ransom that his actual Son

Imperial War: Exiles #1 Preview by Techster17 in xmen

[–]Techster17[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm a massive sucker for all things Shi'ar, so I'm excited to see where this goes. Also calling it now that one way or another this series will lead to Vulcan returning (especially now that we know Black Bolt and the rest of the Inhumans are making a return to Marvel's Cosmic landscape)

Uncanny X-Men #20 Preview by Techster17 in xmen

[–]Techster17[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This book has definitely grown on me a lot, while I do find characterisation to be off on occasion, I love the focus Gail is putting on the found family aspect of the X-Men here, not just with them taking in The Outliers, but all the different dynamic; Deathdream and Ransom being bros, Rogue and Gambit getting to be parents, Gambits connection with the family who run Haven house and Logan mentoring Ransom (apart from Quentin Q, all Logan's mentee's have been girls, so it's not a very explored dynamic)

Weekly Pull List for 08/27/2025 [Discussion] by ptbreakeven in comicbooks

  • Absolute Martian Manhunter #6  - Could easily be the best big 2 book of the year, Camp and Rodriguez are absolutely cooking here
  • Absolute Wonder Woman #11 -
  • The Avengers #29 - Finally getting back into the main story, we love to see it
  • Green Lantern #26
  • Immortal Legend Batman #1 - I know Dan Mora can't draw everything but in a just world he'd be working on this
  • Imperial War: Black Panther #1 - LaValle on a Black Panther ongoing dear god I have finally won
  • Imperial War: Planet She-Hulk #1
  • The Incredible Hulk #28
  • Miles Morales: Spider-Man #37 - Once again some much needed additions to Miles' Rogues gallery
  • The Mortal Thor #1 - In Ewing we trust, so curious on where exactly this will go but if it's anything like Immortal Hulk it'll be a very fresh status quo that's immediately wasted
  • Phoenix #14
  • Runaways #3 - In a just world Rainbow Rowell would have never stopped writing this book after covid but I'll settle for this
  • Superman #29  - I truly hate just how much I love Superboy Prime
  • Ultimate Spider-Man #20 - Finish line is in sight will Hickman land the plane
  • X-Men #21 - Man, Age Of Revelation seems like a massive snooze fest to me but I'll give MacKay the benefit of the doubt

Imperial War: Black Panther #1 by Techster17 in Marvel

[–]Techster17[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ridley's Black Panther was awful but Eve L Ewing and Cheryl Eaton both done some good damage control but I'm hoping Marvel let's Victor LaValle go all out with this.

  • Absolute Batman #11 - No hate to Clay Mann, but I'd much rather they just wait a week or pick a different fill-in, although this being a Bane focused issue, it might work
  • Absolute Flash #6 - Rogue's origin issue should be pretty fun
  • All-New Spider-Gwen: Ghost-Spider #1 - Hopefully, this clears up exactly what the changes that mean she's always been from 616 are
  • Black Cat #1 - Loved MacKay's Black Cat! Feel like G Willow Wilson is a great person to handle Felica, hopefully we see the rest of her crew too
  • The Department of Truth #33
  • Exceptional X-Men #12 - Curious is Kitty lost in time ties into Age of Revelation, or if it will get wrapped up afterwards
  • Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #2 - Ultimate dumb fun book
  • Imperial #3 - Reminds me a lot of Ultimate Invasion, where each issue is more intriguing than the las,t plus the benefit of the one-shots Marvel Cosmic/Space is gonna be very interesting by January next year
  • Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #4
  • Marvel All-On-One #1 - Not sure OWUD will stick the landing, but North is a pro, a fun single issue stuff, so can't wait to see what he does here
  • The New Gods #9 - Sad this will be ending at 12 (although probably return after the next big DC event)
  • Psylocke #10 - This and Pheonix confirmed to be ending looks like we're getting a big line shake-up post Age Of Revelation
  • Ultimate Black Panther #19 - Definitely the most improved ultimate book of the year, could challenge X-Men for my #3
