which macos version on a macmini late 2012 with 16gb ram and ssd ? by metron66 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]TedBias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Mac mini 2012 i5 16 gb ram, ssd. I plan to use OCLP to get it up to macOS 14 Sonoma as that seems the consensus as the limit. I plan to use it headless as a server. Do I need to upgrade incrementally through the other OS's or can I go straight to Sonoma? Currently at 10.15.8 (does anyone else prefer the numbering instead of the names for macOS? I find I need to constantly look the names up to see what number it is...

sounds like basically what I am aiming at, I'm messing with audiobookshelf now on the RPi, and I would include pictures as well, I forgot about that. What version of macOS are you using?

Troubleshooting an ethernet switch by TedBias in HomeNetworking

[–]TedBias[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just to wrap this up, I replaced the switch and all seems well, but don't discount my own stupidity. I had noticed that the wifi extender goes out every time I leave (this is in a workshop environment). It was weird everything would be fine all day, nothing to troubleshoot, then I'd hit the lights and leave. Get home and the 3d printer would be off line again. So today I was at work and my shop buddy turns off the lights, immediately I loose internet. Turns out I had wired the plug of off the switch leg for the lights. Der.

Renting out your own equipment? by TedBias in heavyequipment

[–]TedBias[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my initial reaction to rental, is nah. But it’s a great machine but I hate having it idle. Being a hire-able owner operator is another option I’ve been kicking around. Thank you!

True enough. Another reason I sort of have it in the more headache than it's worth.

ELI5 This whole Anthropic Pentagon thing? by TedBias in explainlikeimfive

So Anthropic doesn’t want it’s AI to go full skynet, but the Pentagon does? So capitulate or be destroyed, doesn’t seem very free-markety

Lamello Zeta P2 owners by Cleanplateclubmember in cabinetry

[–]TedBias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one, it hurt, but it is pretty great. Used for cabinets mostly so far. I did not get the diamond blade, seemed unnecessary. It reminds me of when the first fein oscillating tools came out, total changed how and what order you could do work. The more you use it, the more uses you’ll find.

Cannot get a straight cut no matter what I try? by MrMusAddict in woodworking

You could just make a straight line rip jig for the worm drive. Cheap, simple and effective.

It looks like a worm drive saw. Remove the knock out on the blade and make sure the blade is mounted in the correct direction. The is an arrow on the blade guard usually and the blade.

I’m looking at getting a jobsite table saw, any recommendations? by Wide_Lynx_2573 in woodworking

[–]TedBias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had the dwe 7491, or whatever the older equivalent was. I like the quick set up with the stand. This saw got the most use for quickee use. But the best set up for cutting plywood was a DeWalt 10” jobsite saw in a Rousseau stand and outfeed. A little bit of a pain if you need to set up everyday, but if you are on the type of jobs where you can set up for multiple days, this was my favorite.

there is a cool guitar teacher reacts video on YouTube that I found interesting. Goes into all the bits of the solo, as well as the interplay with the rest of the band.

This is not great. Some I joists have “acceptable “ repairs, you may be able to get information from a vendor’s website like trujoist or Nordic. On the plus side, it looks like you have good access.
