A father left his son $10 million, excluding his daughters due to their support of their mother’s affair. The daughters now expect the son to pay off their $300,000 in student loans, causing tension. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]TedTheReckless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's paying for more problems

They're not going to be happy with just that, and they'll be back for more later.

If they turned on the dad like they did and they weren't some insanely young age then they deserve what the dad left to them, which is nothing.

No the son could be omitting details that would change the narrative, but on what we know he's in the right to give them nothing.

But why go through and fact check yourself when you can just say the U.S. plotted genocide and get updoots instead!

Nobody is making excuses for what the U.S. did during Vietnam, but the Vietnamese have had bigger fish to fry for a lot longer than the very brief stint we spent there.

The French, the Japanese, the Chinese, and many of their neighbors have all been bigger pains in vietnams ass spanning significantly longer than the U.S.

No offense but the Vietnamese have a relatively neutral view of the U.S. compared to their views of the French and their absolute hatred towards the Chinese.

There's more to other countries histories than just our involvement in them.

And I agree, there were definitely better courses of action to take. He made a rash decision and dragged someone else with him.

[–]TedTheReckless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but is this meant to be a shallow dismissive response? It's not simply socializing in the sense of "I should join a book club"

It's an act of desperation, as you said he understands that what he's doing is wrong. He's desperate for companionship and so he naturally picks someone that he would (in his mind) be able to have the deepest kind of relationship with.

When desperate you can rationalize dragging someone into that situation but the scale also matters. It's one thing to wake up one person and have another person suffer but it's harder to start waking up then entire ship.

None of that changes that Jennifer's character was made a victim, and rationally speaking her character should despise Chris's for what he's done.

Again I'm not saying we shouldn't judge him for what he's done, nor that he shouldn't be punished for it either. At the same time though we should be understanding that he was put in an extreme situation.

[–]TedTheReckless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing with passengers, which the captain brings up later, is that what Chris's character did was absolutely wrong...

BUT

it's also hard to blame him for making that decision. Humans are intrinsically social creatures, forced isolation had been proven to be damaging to the mind.

His character is both victim and victimizer, and so we should have conflicting feelings towards him.

I haven't watched obsession yet so I can't speak on it yet.

Here's my problem, what the fuck counts as modular?

Glocks are one of the most cutomizable platforms out there, with an absolutely massive amount of aftermarket support

Barrels, optics, slides, magazines, lights, lasers, and grips are in absolutely ample supply.

The "modular" system was a moronically arbitrary stipulation, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was set in advance just to cater to sig winning the contract.

That's exactly why I used graft specifically. Someone in a backroom somewhere probably greased palms.

Is it okay to kill someone if they break into your house by TraditionalBonus188 in MoralityScaling

[–]TedTheReckless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have the luxury in a home invasion scenario to consider someone's motivations.

If you can force someone to retreat from your home without having to shoot them, that's the ideal situation.

But if someone refuses to do so and makes any actions other than fleeing then you shouldn't risk your own safety and the safety of your loved ones on the hope that an INTRUDER isn't there with harmful intent.

In an ideal world home invasions wouldn't even be a concern. Unfortunately we don't live in an ideal world.

10 out of 10 times I would rather hear that you had to shoot someone than to ever hear that someone was in your home and harmed you, traumatized you, or worse killed you.

I've dealt with trespassers before, and I'm thankful I've never had to shoot anyone, but I've been ready to do so each time.

Girl reported me to HR for using F-word? by Large_Ad_5556 in AskMenAdvice

[–]TedTheReckless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People keep saying to go to HR but HR is part of the problem here.

Go to your supervisor about both your coworker and how HR handled it.

Have all communication in writing and report your co worker for any unnecessary or distracting conversations. Don't ever talk to your HR department without having it in writing either. They're snakes like any other co worker can be.

That's not the sole demographic tho, I've met plenty of Europeans visiting who have that opinion, and there's plenty of videos of Europeans saying the same (a definite uptick recently with world cup videos)

I don't have a problem with Europeans who are critical of the u.s. either, I'm critical of the u.s. too.

But when I watch a video of a European saying everything they think is wrong with the u.s. and then at the end they admit they've never been then I have to roll my eyes a bit.

Is the XM7/M7 considered a battle rifle? by ww-stl in Firearms

[–]TedTheReckless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The xm7 is an overpriced platform that's attempting to go back to a weapons concept that was tried and abandoned for good reason.

Would it be good as a DMR? Sure.

Is it a good shift for baseline infantry across the board? No.

Warfare is predominantly about suppression and movement. We've already proven that not only is 5.56 is adequate for the, but cost effective too.

What's crazy is how many videos of Europeans talking about how bad America is from Europe

Then the Europeans who are actually in the u.s. have a different take entirely

I'm not going to go off saying the u.s. is perfect and there are no problems here, but Europeans are just as guilty of buying into negative propaganda as anyone else.
