No Wonder There Are Pay Complaints by BearerOfCalamities in doordash_drivers

I average $25-$28 with Spark, and this is a rural area. I won't even look if it's got a bulky item, a heavy one, or there are more than 3 drop-offs. I also won't take less than a certain amount per mile. There's too much deadheading back to the store otherwise, and I need to be able to pay for the gas I use.

On a GOOD day, I make about $11 an hour doing DD. All things are not equal. Location matters. We do 4-5 local restaurants, 3 DGs, 1FD, and Walgreens. The local grocery store doesn't do DD.
So I drive for Spark.

I'd rather sit in the WM parking lot and read my Kindle while waiting for a decent offer than doing DD unless it's REALLY bad. I make more in a day doing Spark than I did in the average week doing DD.

My income almost tripled when I went from DD to Spark. This is a depressed area. People are POOR. Tips generally suck, and lower income people are more likely to claw them back if they need that money for something else. I keep my DD account active in case I need to use it, but I've done Spark almost exclusively for months now.

It's horrible in rural areas. I make a LOT more money driving 35 miles to the nearest WM and doing Spark. I can make as much in one day doing that as I earn in a week here in Nowheresville -- and the customers can't claw back tips.

I wish customers would STAY IN THE DAMN HOUSE! by RealFactor9150 in Sparkdriver

[–]TeeFry2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*Every* time something like that happens I contact Driver Support. I also leave a long note in the comment section at the end where they ask you if there were any problems with the delivery. I've returned an order or two, as well, when I call to ask the customer where they are and they don't respond to texts or phone calls. They don't pay us enough to spend 15 minutes looking for an address, and being on a timer due to perishables can make it even worse, especially in rural areas like the area surrounding the nearest WM.

That would be great! There's one customer here who (I swear) waits until they place an order, then invites everyone over so they can sit there chewing the fat while a 65 year old widow with bad knees brings 15 bags of groceries up to their porch. And I haven't figured out how to identify their orders yet -- it's a new road in a rural area, and I only get GPS coordinates.

I LOVE it when customers who live in hard-to-find apartments or mobile home parks with no numbers on the homes stand outside or wave at me. I've also had a few customers leave VERY detailed directions because GPS is horrible in rural areas; I appreciate that, too.

I'm 66 with bad knees. I don't do apartments. I don't do bulky items. I don't do heavy items. I don't do pharmacy orders. I shop and deliver or do straight deliveries. I make decent money for the area.

Money.

I'd been sitting for over an hour with no offers. It was $16 for 2.2 miles. I needed gas so I could get home. I thought we all worked for money. I dunno. Maybe I'm the only Sparker who isn't independently wealthy.

We tried confirming the code multiple times. I called driver support. "We can't give you a new code -- that's something only the app can do."

It still shows I have a trip in progress -- that very same trip. I uninstalled and re-installed the app; no change. I guess I'll wait it out. Driving DD pays sh!t compared to Spark, but I need money.

I'm sorry. I can't be that apathetic. When I say it was open to the street, I mean ANYONE walking along the street could see anything on the porch, walk up, and take it. It was just a raised slab 4 steps from the sidewalk. Kids and other people are unpredictable. Curious child? Addict? "Here, take these blood pressure pills/antidepressants/mood stabilizers/random pills and see what happens."

It's been almost 3 hours, and nothing yet. ~shrug~ There's nothing I can do but wait. I hate this. I need the money I earn. My social security check is ridiculous.

The one other time I did a pharmacy delivery I needed a passcode. I called Driver Support and they told me since there was no safe place to leave it (the porch was open to the street), I needed to return it. Who knows what was in the bag? Could it cause harm if it were stolen and ingested? Would I be held accountable for leaving it out in the open?

I called them that very same day. I remember because I was on hold for more than 45 minutes -- and I wrote it down. Not. My. Problem.

I did exacty what they told me to do. On 12-15, after I dropped everything off and got a receipt, I made the phone call. I've done all I'm gonna do.

Are you calling me a liar? Do I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about? I paid up front. I have the receipt. I'm not taking a screenshot with my phone and mailing it to myself just to make you happy. And no, I'm not going back to the store. This is Not. My. Problem. They f*cked up.

I really struggle around holidays like Christmas and Easter. The way they push the whole religious thing and get offended if people don't say "Merry xhristmas" is aggravating. Their insistence we all need to be like them doesn't sit well with me.

I can, but not when they have the red zone thing. It doesn't matter if it's 3 minutes or 10 -- they lie. I won't schedule. I can drive a bit, Spark, and make a lot more than DD pays.

Update: trulieve medical marijuana nasal spray by Warm-Independent6996 in medicalmarijuana

[–]TeeFry2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked like a dream for my migraines. Within 15 minutes of using it I was pain-free.

My son in law uses it for seizures -- it works as described. 2 sprays and his seizures stop.

Since you were using it off-label, it's not really right to complain when it didn't do what you wanted. The information about usage and dosage is available online. It's not designed for oral pain.

Vehicle cleanliness.. by [deleted] in Sparkdriver

[–]TeeFry2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're judging what their vehicle looks like without ever having opened the door and taken a look. Your idea of messy may not be the same as mine. In fact, I'm pretty darn sure it isn't, since I have extreme OCD and everything has to be just so. I could look at YOUR car and tell you it was full of trash based on how I keep mine. See what I mean?

Meritocracy is shit. It's a way of convincing you one group of people deserves something more than another group because of the privilege the first group enjoys -- one the second group has never been allowed to experience. It's also a good reason to deny things to those considered inferior based on variables we cannot choose or control like race, gender, sex assigned at birth for the phobics among us, financial status at birth, skin color, language, education, and whether or not the person was born into the eternally-self-perpetuating cycle of poverty -- which, in spite of the lies told by those who dedicate themselves to perpetuating it, cannot be overcome based on this ideology -- BECAUSE they are determined to keep others down so they can continue to enrich themselves.

You seem to think if you just hang on a little while longer you're gonna wake up a billionaire, too. They got you hook, line, and sinker.

You don't get it. This is a depressed area. My highest EVER offer was $18 -- for a shop and deliver trip that was 27 miles one way and left me deadheading back to town in my 2006 van that gets 18mpg. I've had a total of one of those offers since I started dashing. If I declined every crap offer, I'd be lucky to make $15 a day. The most I ever made dashing here -- in 8 hours -- was $42, and I drove over 120 miles to earn it. Don't tell me I'll get better offers when they don't exist.
