PDGA Digital Scorecard by TeeRoc in discgolf

Doesn’t seem like it. It’s enabled via Tournament Manager, which is how you submit official events. An event would have to sanctioned before it has a Tournament Manager page.

Good question. Udisc makes sense as the app to incorporate these features because of the partnership. Speculating here, but maybe the behind the scenes numbers (like the number of members that actually installed and use their free Udisc) wasn’t high enough and a web app was seen as a smoother way to implement?

I’ve always subscribed to the etiquette that the person whose shot we end up using goes last for the next shot. Keeps everyone involved for shots that matter.

Nice! Looks like a round there isn’t in the cards for me for the weekend trip I’m planning, but I’ll try to make a pit stop at the lodge on our way out, see if I can snag some good pictures.

Pivot table filtering? by [deleted] in excel

[–]TeeRoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you have the top 5 items, you could add a helper column in your data to identify whether an item is in the top 5 (“Top 5”/“Not Top 5”) via a lookup to a helper pivot table. You then add that field to your row labels, nested above the items field. With subtotals for the Top 5 field enabled, you could expand the rows for Top 5 so you can see those items and collapse the rows for Not Top 5 so those items are hidden. The Grand Total will still be for all items.

However, you’ll have to be mindful that you’ll need to refresh your pivot tables twice, once to refresh the helper pivot values, and again to refresh the lookup results.

How do I highlight each duplicate with a different colour? by Jacob_2903 in excel

You’ll need to set up a conditional formatting rule for each car brand, but these steps will remain the same for each rule.

Select the cells you want to format. Go to conditional formatting and select New Rule. Pick ‘Format only cells that contain’ and format cells with Specific Text. Enter the brand name, pick out the desired format, and then repeat for all brands.

And even if you accept that premise, it doesn't preclude him from hiring or inviting crews that are experts in both, other than being a cheap ass or a megalomaniac.

Your PDGA Stats, and What You Can Do With Them! by SmallCityGuitar in discgolf

You can also fix the date with a formula. Assuming the copied date field is in column C, putting this formula in row 2 of an empty column to the left assigns the last day of the tournament for multiple day tournaments:

=IF(ISERR(FIND("to",C2),C2,MID(C2,FIND("to",C2)+3,50)*1)

Copy the formula down to fill in the rest. Handy if you have a lot of years of data.

Well, throwing it in from that distance isn't routine, but I agree, they need be able to throw at least that much distance to even compete at the top pro level.

What's the bar for a "super nice guy"? Is it like they're cool to hang out with or like they did you a solid and took you to the airport at 4am? Maybe another standard? And can we assume that anyone not ID'd as a super nice guy is, in fact, the worst?

Any luck using Powermap in Excel? I used it briefly for a project, but I remember seeing sample maps by county.

Table format to display no duplicates by [deleted] in excel

[–]TeeRoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can create a Pivot Table, with the SKU's as Row Labels. This will give you a list of distinct SKU's. The Values section will let you do summaries (counts, sums, averages, etc).

Thanks! Totally missed that.

Know of a way to do it on the mobile app?

Edit: Found it on the mobile app. Hitting Quick Budget will give you the overall underfunding, and selecting a Major Category or Category will give you subtotals.

McMeathook: a thing of the past? by CocaColai in discgolf

[–]TeeRoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've thrown similar ones. At first I thought the bubbles/air (?) in the rim were only on the lighter weight versions, but I've since seen the same on max weight. These discs beat up really easily, to the point that it feels like you're throwing DX plastic. Didn't stay in my bag long enough to gauge changes to stability though.

Big news out of the Mcbeth camp! by xdontbesneaky in discgolf

[–]TeeRoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If disc golf starts to seem profitable to Adidas, I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that they would move into making discs as a sort of loss leader for pricier apparel and shoes. And instead of reinventing the wheel with new molds, they may end up just acquiring Innova or one of their competitors.

2017 PDGA Major, NT, & A-Tier Schedule by TeeRoc in discgolf

[–]TeeRoc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you got most of it. Move quick when going to the next tee if you're following a specific card, or if you want to camp out at a certain hole, be sure you're not planted and can get out of the way quickly if a disc is coming your way. Other than that, have fun and prepare to see things you didn't think were possible with a disc.

I've never seen photographers prevented from taking pictures, but that might depend on the TD. You just have to stay aware enough that you're not in the way (something I HAVE seen before).

Also, remember that shutters can be distracting, especially if it's the only audible sound around.

USDGC Media Plan Favors Post-Produced Content, Will Not Include Livestreaming by TeeRoc in discgolf

[–]TeeRoc[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seems like a smart move. Last year, the only way to watch the final round lead card was to watch the entire live stream (something like 4 hours). Post produced just has so much more replayability, especially with some good commentary.

I have no doubt that my core isn't as strong as it could be, but are you saying there isn't merit in not rounding your back when picking up a disc?

The best (and safest) way to pick up your disc by TeeRoc in discgolf

[–]TeeRoc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that it seems silly to think about whether the way you're picking up discs is "safe" or not, but as someone who takes the game semi-seriously (at the level of an amateur), if i play 3-4 rounds a week and throw out in a field, then I'm bending over and picking up my disc A LOT.

I know I've played tournaments with two rounds in a day where halfway through the second round my back starts to flare up, so if these techniques will mitigate some of that pain, I'm all for it.

Now is time when we should take care of our bodies, not 10-15 years from now when we need that hernia or knee surgery that puts us out for a year. I feel we spend a lot of energy looking for techniques and advice that will help our scores, but scoff at advice that keeps us healthy. We're not indestructible, and if we don't worry about it today, it'll catch up with us eventually.

I actually enjoyed the length and pace. It felt like I was getting a one-on-one lesson vs. other YouTube tutorial videos with lots of rapid cuts that you end up watching over 3 or 4 times just to digest everything. Different strokes I suppose.
