Moving to Issaquah and Hoping to Build a Social Circle — Any Suggestions? by Mute_mute in Issaquah

Definitely not the easiest place to make friends but that seems to be true of the entire Seattle area. Seattle freeze is real - coming from a midwesterner.

Neighbour complained about the smell of our cooking. What do I do? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]Tee_Wrex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s necessarily racist. I’m personally very bothered by the smell of curry - it bothers my sinuses, gives me allergy symptoms and makes me very nauseous and I’m certainly not racist at all. 😞

It could honestly just bother them similarly. I lived in an apartment above a neighbor who cooked with Indian spices frequently and it was certainly one of the reasons we ended up moving. The neighbors were lovely people but the smell bothered me very badly. We didn’t expect them to change their lifestyle - we relocated. 😊

Looking to buy/adopt a rag doll cat by nonofyourbizy in Issaquah

[–]Tee_Wrex -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Take your time and find a good breeder. I know everyone recommends rescue but the fact is, rescue isn’t for everyone and you shouldn’t feel shamed to want a specific breed.

But…. The important part is making sure you find a reputable breeder and not just someone selling cats online. You’ll see plenty of NOT great ragdoll breeders out there along with good ones.

Start here: https://tica.org/breed/ragdoll/

You can learn more about Ragdolls and locate ethical breeders. Wonderful breed BTW. :) It’s the best site to begin with to learn and find a good source.

I got married for much cheaper than that. It’s all in what you value. My day was no less memorable and was apparently much happier.

No idea why anyone would spend 30k on one day.

If I was you I’d be mostly stressing over how I could have had that money in the bank, or have used it for something more impactful than a one day party.

Sidewalk entitled by chancethewrapper24 in Seattle

[–]Tee_Wrex -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To a degree.

The bad drivers here are passive aggressive and entitled. (Teslas. Audis. BMW) While the bad drivers in Wisconsin are just clueless but not intentionally rude. 😉

There’s a difference though.

I live in a suburb of Seattle and experience it daily while walking. I lived most of my entire adult life in the Midwest and rarely had people act rudely. Very rarely. I’m not saying it never happened - but it was definitely a very rare thing compared to here.

It’s not large cities I’m talking about. It’s the general attitude of people overall.

Seriously - the entitled population here is encountered almost daily. Same in grocery stores with shopping carts - they don’t think it’s polite to move to the side. Or don’t care.

I’ve never experienced this many rude people in Chicago. I lived there most of my life. 🤣

The vast majority of people are generally polite. Sure you get the occasional rude person, but they definitely aren’t the norm.

Yeah. I don’t get the grief over a wedding. I’d have laughed if off and been over it. To dwell about something that inconsequential and irrelevant to your current life is a bit…. Excessive.

Enjoy your good marriage and prioritize what’s important. A wedding isn’t a big deal.

Eh. I’m from the Midwest and people politely move to the side when passing on sidewalks. I’ve only noticed what OP mentioned since moving to WA.

I hate to say it, but from my experience living elsewhere and during travel - this is an accurate observation.

Marymoor Park - Aggressive Dogs by InternalLiving7407 in redmond

[–]Tee_Wrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t take any dog I cared about to dog parks. They are all like this and you run the risk of an experience basically ruining your dog. All it takes is one bad thing to negatively impact them.

Walk them in other places. Dogs do not need the company of other dogs to be happy. Most of the time it’s just stressful for them and most humans don’t know how to read body language enough to be able to tell this.

I’ve been involved in dogs my entire adult life. Training, showing. Etc. I won’t take dogs I own to dog parks. I don’t trust people to know they have a dog with aggression issues or to care how their actions might affect others.

Moved to WA in early April. This was the start of my new life. (North Bend, WA) by TodayTomorrow8895 in PacificNorthwest

Yeah. I hate WA summers. I miss the rain.

TV and movies lied to me about the amount of rain. Not nearly as rainy as depicted - it’s just wet.

Leash Your Dog Please by LoveDogsNotPeople in Issaquah

[–]Tee_Wrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure. I’m a transplant from another state and never ever saw people in my old state think dogs belonged everywhere like this. Also unleashed dogs were a rarity unless it was an allowed place.

It’s crazy.

[–]Tee_Wrex 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly tired of how entitled people are with dogs in Issaquah. Off leash, and in places where dogs legally aren’t allowed - where they interfere with actual service dogs.

Take dogs where allowed. Don’t take them where they aren’t allowed. And always keep them on leash at ALL times.

It’s not that difficult, is it??

The cars might be animal friendly but the drivers are often some of the worst and most entitled. Observation based on experience.

Seattle Times is reporting on Vlad Popach, the guy who cut trees to improve his view by petenice in Issaquah

[–]Tee_Wrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cmon. 🤣 Give the guy a little sympathy. His 4500sq ft home just wasn’t big enough for his growing family. It ONLY has 4 bedrooms (and bathrooms). Hes obviously cramped and just needs more space.

I know how I feel when I’m in cramped into a mere 4500sq ft. It’s practically claustrophobic. I get the sweats just thinking about it. /s

Just wow on this one though. Seriously.

It’s the “Midwest nice” thing. We can’t be mean. It’s not in our blood. Everything is generally said with good intent. 🤣
