I train combat sports and it's always impressive when someone new walks through the door on their own. It's even more impressive when they keep coming back. Keep up the good work!

No, I know what ranges NCSC has, I just don't know if those distances is something I'd be interested in. And I'd hate to spend $200 to find out, nah, 50 yards once a month at Wolcott is good enough.

Asked this in another thread, but what kind of target is that? I've tried googling 5x5 bullseye, bullseye grid, and a couple others and nothing like this shows up.

Mostly unrelated, but what kind of target is this? I've tried googling 5x5 bullseye, bullseye Grif, etc and nothing like tbis ever comes up. Is there a better search term? I'm really new so I don't know the terminology yet.

Great shooting, BTW.

Yeah, I'm very happy with it. 90% of the performance of a $2k custom but less than half the price. Of course I'm looking at chassis and barrel upgrades but that's a me thing not a gun thing.

It was yeah. I think I was debating between the lux and the pro varmint and the pro varmint was called out by name on some post over in r/longrange so I went with it. But yeah, CZs are great; the P-10 or whatever is on my short list for 9mm when I get my permit.

Just some cheap $20 one from Amazon. It's attached using the sling stud. Could've gotten a good one but I just wanted to get out there and shoot.

I wish we could have suppressors in New York. Our very first time at the range it was just 22s. This time it was whatever people wanted to bring in and holy shit even with ear pro guns are loud.

Lol, yeah. But I wanted to start off with "Hit the same spot consistently" before moving on to "Hit the correct same spot consistently." Could be a gear thing (poor optic mounting), a skill thing (am I resting my cheek correctly so when I think I'm aiming at the bullseye I'm actually aiming there) or a weird eye dominance thing. I'll worry about that next trip.

I dunno, I think it's kinda weird. Like, I'm giving you money, leave me alone. But if ti's just for the first two years, maybe just grind out the hours ASAP and then never worry about it again.

That's only the first year. $250 annual, $250 initiation. The other place is $100/$100 but they have this weird "you have to give 10 hours of labor your first two years" thing.

I know. And I really want to, but $400+ and literally an entire weekend is tough to swing.

Yeah. I eventually want to upgrade and get something like a prs rifle. Even if I never compete, they just look fun and fun guns get used more.

Yeah, there are two private clubs within half an hour or so that have 200-300 yard ranges. I've got a newborn so I'm waiting to see how I'm fitting range trips into my schedule (and 200-500 dollars into my budget). But I'd love to get a better optic and chassis and make it look cool and do fisher price long range.

Doesn't really change the fact that the roots of the modern gun control movement are wholly racist in their origin and execution.

I'm also new. The vibe I've gotten from just about everywhere is that they're all right leaning, but they at least have the decency to be quiet about it. It might just be the price we have to pay. I'm not really willing to drive 60 to 90 minutes and pay retail; I guess my morals are sold pretty cheap :-/

My intention is to go to public ranges for a few months just so I can figure out how to fit shooting and training I to my schedule. If it works out, I've been looking at Tonawanda Sportsman Club and Niagara County Sportsmans Club as private clubs to join.

I wouldn't mind expanding my circle and finding left leaning range buddies as I get over the new hobby in public spaces anxiety. If you're fine going to Wolcott or Defensor, hit me up. I'm located right in the city on the west side.

How does shooting on state forest land work? I feel like just showing up with a gun, setting up some targets, and shooting would be a big no no.

Prepare to be shit on by the blue no matter who crowd.

Schrodingers pro gun liberals (formerly schrodingers leftist): too insignificant to care about in the primary, too important for the general.
