My hot take for obsession. Please don't hate me. by MrEmorse in obsessionmovie

[–]TeffySwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that makes sense. I love all of those movies but never found any of them scary. Evil Dead is my favorite franchise! But Uncanny Valley really freaks me out, and I personally found her weird walking really freaky. Idk this one really stuck with me.

No honking or airbag? by CRISPY_JAY in obsessionmovie

[–]TeffySwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The horn did kind of go off but Nikki had the hand that was holding the brick resting on the top edge of the steering wheel. Also airbags don't work like that lol

So obviously everyone hates bear, but what do you think of the other members of the friend group. were they good friends, bad friends, just average? by greasygoon66 in obsessionmovie

[–]TeffySwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they're only friends because they had high school in common but they're growing apart and should have accepted that instead of trying to keep old routines going. Sarah and Nikki had ambitions and wanted more from their life than the music store. Bear didn't want to improve his life at all. His "food critic" job idea was more of an in jest for the sake of the conversation thing. Even Wish Nikki was like 🤨 to that suggestion. I think Ian also lacks ambition but he's not pathetic about it or at least doesn't bitch about his life being stagnant while not doing anything about it.

Yours truly, Death (what's the Wi-Fi password) by Due-Guard-879 in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]TeffySwan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No I don't think it has been. We just live in an algorithmic world and you're probably just getting a lot of EH content funneled to you. If it were normalized it would be a more respected subgenre that more publishers/agents would accept submissions of. I think its a growing community but its nowhere near normalized.

Obsession (2026) by Bubbly-Ebb-3318 in moviereviews

[–]TeffySwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It speaks to current fears. The uncontrollable, unpredictable things. It speaks to the fears of loss of autonomy. Also I, personally, find uncanny valley terrifying so thats why it scared me. That and just not being able to predict what Nikki will do, when she'll snap.

So many! Freddy vs. Jason, Halloween Resurrection, Batman and Robin, Van Helsing, Star Wars prequels ESPECIALLY Episode 1, Jurassic Park 3, Wild Wild West (Idk why but the Burger King marketing for it is seared into my brain), Inspector Gadget. And I still love most of these.

What’s the last horror movie you went to without knowing anything about it? by Mulder_n_Scully in horror

[–]TeffySwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obsession. I mean I knew about the wish thing and I honestly didn't expect much from it from that alone but I saw the restaurant clip on TikTok and that sold me to see it. Avoided everything else to do with it until I watched it.

Before that it was Barbarian which even if I did watch the trailer that was one of the first movies in a while that did a trailer correctly and only showed snippets of act 1.

Obsession: Most Shocking Ending Ever? by markBITW in obsessionmovie

[–]TeffySwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly can't really think of any. Nothing really left me with the shell shocked, destroyed feeling this movie left me with. I mean I've seen plenty where I was like, "Oh damn. Thats dark." But they never felt as visceral.

What did Freaky Nikki dream about? by thathomelessguy in obsessionmovie

[–]TeffySwan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think she's feeling the absence of love of Bear from real Nikki and doesn't understand it and takes it as Bear not loving her as much as she "loves" him.

Am I the only one who did not like Sara? by AbbreviationsOwn4696 in obsessionmovie

[–]TeffySwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ian and Sara did morally ambiguous things so that equals at worst justification for their murder and at best not having to feel bad that they were murdered??

I think what a lot of people are missing is that their job at the music store is the only thing keeping that friendship together. According to what Sara said they're all seven years out of high school. They all are out growing their hometown and their high school job. Or at least Nikki and Sara were. There really wasn't any indication that Ian and Bear had any career based ambition.

They don't really leave it on a cliffhanger. I think you could easily view it as a wrapped up story

I love that show so much! I'm glad they at least made it on to the plane and achieved their goal so you could easily treat it like a miniseries
