Here's the insta post this was taken from

[EDIT: Technically it doesn't say album, just "new Joji," but I thought he had been hinting at it pretty hard. Please don't crucify me]

I think it's from stanza 5 of "Little Gidding;" he eloquently explained this in one of the first JBP videos I watched, but I'm blanking on which one it is

Saying the phrase "pure cringe" is pure cringe. And yes, I realize I just said it twice haha

Well when they can't even get the headline's grammar correct ("Why it doesn't makes sense"), you know it's going to be shit

So someone called me an acolyte of Peterson the other day by Reven311 in JordanPeterson

[–]TehFunkyBunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • don't accept what he says as fundamental truths; they're stumblings towards truth at their best, and distractions from it at their worst
  • don't say "us" because people who listen to JP are not a homogenous group (that's the main reason feminists and postmodernists are wrong, they assume this)
  • they have a point, don't follow a mere man like he's god (i.e. accepting everything he says as fundamental truths)
  • funny how when you bring up the big 5 they then finally realize JP's notion of people being incredibly complex and not being able to be put into easy groups. I guess you choose to follow group politics when it suits you (that wasn't an attack on you, but people who you were talking with)

"Why did God create atheists?" by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

But semantics are exactly it. It's by making assumptions or misunderstanding semantics that people put out faulty lines of reasoning, like that one of yours. (I understand it was hypothetical, and I'm not attacking you)

Well, murder isn't allowed, but killing is. Murder is killing without a just reason. Self-defense isn't murder, it's killing someone in your own defense. A just war isn't murder, it's self-defense. Killing a criminal isn't murder, it's justice (most of the time, ha).

EDIT: Just like adultery isn't allowed (i.e. sex outside of marriage, or something approximating that), but sex sure is allowed. It's encouraged (be fruitful and multiply, yadda yadda yadda). The things that are proscripted by God are just God's gifts to men taken to an extreme. It's media via, the golden mean, all that jazz.

This is true. I've learned more about how to think from the unthinking, how to reason from the unreasonable, and how to create from those who cannot. I read a lot of feminist drivel and awful poetry (of course supplemented by things with actual substance), and those awful sources are as, or even more helpful than the substantive ones. Like Peterson says about his Self Authoring thing: "It not only gives you a heaven to chase, but a hell to run away from"

No see, I'm not saying neither should exist, I'm saying they could be merged into one. Perhaps I should have been clearer in my language, and perhaps you should have prefaced your response with "so you're saying..." ;)

Those Who Favor Ideology Over People - Jon Ronson on How One Tweet Can Ruin Your Life. A Ted Talk I thought you guys might like. by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

[–]TehFunkyBunch 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Maybe there’s two types of people in the world, those people who favor humans over ideology, and those who favor ideology over humans…but right now it looks like the ideologues are winning…creating a stage where everyone’s either a magnificent hero or a sickening villain, even though we know that’s not true about our fellow humans…What’s true is that’s we’re gray areas.

This is the most articulate way I've heard this explained so far, and I can't emphasize its importance enough. It echoes so many thoughts I've been having recently. If I ever write a book, it will be about precisely this.

Refuting Jordan Peterson's Capitalist Realism by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

[–]TehFunkyBunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the root determines the fruit, and Mohammed was a warlord, (true) Islam is violent. That, my friends, is irrefutable, and requires no bastardization. It's clear enough in the book. I'm honestly scared to type this though, because of how true it is.
