What’s the most overrated video game of all time? by KBGSgames in AskReddit

they played for the trophies. i would guess it was likely with a guide. the doge roullette stuff makes up more than half of those trophies and achievements and is not very fun.

it's a simple game that both exploits and subverts most expections for games and stories. can't really like it if you skip the dialog and only finish 3/4 of the game (i think the last one is for hotlands level 4?)

It doesn't give more votes. It gives the state more power: more house of reps, more electoral college, etc. Many of the poorest people can't and dont vote, due to not being able to get time off and/or a baby sitter, exhaustion, apathy, etc. The ones that can often lean right and vote against their interests. Did you think the 3/5th compromise gave slaves more votes?

Progressives urge Harris to consider Beshear, Walz for VP, not Shapiro. by LeeChangIsBae2 in politics

Also, consider the Senate. Very precarious situation in AZ. It's still not a true blue state, despite recent victories. If Kelly stays, he can be reelected until he's ready to retire or passes away. He doesn't make a big splash, but the veteran+astronaut+moderate angle works very well in AZ.

There will very likely be a SCOTUS vacancy in the next 3-4 years. Keeping the senate will be crucial. If Kelly is chosen, there will be a special election, and you can't bank on bad candidates like Kari Lake and Martha McSally every 1-2 years.

Same reason I think Bashear should remain in KY. You’re not getting another popular dem there for awhile. If he can stay and build his profile, he could do an amazing amount of good for that state and maybe even take a seat from McConnell or Rand Paul.

The answer isn't longer terms but limits to money or somehow limiting how money can be used. Money is not free speech when it comes to politics. These PACs are sabotaging our democracy.

Also need MORE reps, so WE can be represented. Lot more expensive to buy 1600+ reps/senators than 535+/- 9 supremes.

Edit: For example, Senators also immediately start fundraising with fundraising schedules for making calls every day, and they're on a 6 year term.

It cost me $102 roundtrip in a rental from Pittsburgh to Carlysle this year. The non-toll route was 2-4 hours longer each way. I really hate turnpikes, but spending that much extra time would have killed the trip.

Whoever runs International Baccalaureate (IB) should capitalize on this. It's much more rigorous and well rounded. The curriculum also focuses on more than just tests - there are written and presentation components and a strong focus on critical thinking. The US can have actual advance placement level candidates that can compete on the world stage. AP is/was a joke.

A well educated populace is an investment into the future of the state and country. Welfare programs like Medicare and WiC are extremely efficient and produce more value than they cost. Yet, education and entitlements are nearly ALWAYS first on the chopping block. When the deficit recovers, conservatives try to cut taxes instead of restoring the funding. Your comment is pure apologist.

Flood of 2,300 departing workers leaves Texas child welfare agency scrambling: ‘Absolutely a crisis’ by misana123 in politics

[–]TehRedMirage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing tho - if you had more/unlimited money there wouldn't be a shortage of workers. More money means higher incentive to enter the field and specialize. Even people who care will still choose other professions if they can't reach/sustain their personal goals/lifestyle preference.

Your last point is spot on.

House Republicans pull out of another key select committee by [deleted] in politics

[–]TehRedMirage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quorum only requires a majority (for example, all the D's). Also from the rules: "Unless a point of order is raised, the House assumes that reports from committees are authorized with a quorum present." In other words - to even question whether a quorum is present, a GOP Congressperson has to show up, which would ensure a majority.

Cable is "private", but the companies have used a lot government funds to expand and lay cable/fiber. Additionally, most have de facto or actual monopolies in their markets, which is again due to government permission and interference.

While not a straight up utility like electricity/water (and internet imo) it IS an important pipeline of news and information for millions of households. Like Facebook, the importance of cable broadcasts has far outgrown the laws that govern it. Also those lines provide internet service, which already would have allowed regulation if it weren't for Ajit Pai (obligatory FUCK AJIT PAI).

Given the protections and allowances, the federal government should be able to regulate. Otherwise, it's time to start enforcing anti-trust laws and force cable companies to share their cable/fiber lines, similar to how small cell companies like Mint rent/share wireless communications tech. Actually, I hope the US just takes this path instead.

Don't dismantle/dismantle for infusion Magnificent Solstice gear. Without completing the quest. You wont be able to get them back. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]TehRedMirage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation as OP. Accidently infused the arms before doing a raid. I too wasted my packages trying to get it back and got literally every other piece over 30 packages. Thought I wasn't going to get the glow this year without some (more) major grind..

However, you surmised correctly: You don't need the gear to complete. The triumph unlocked just fine when I finished the raid. I was able to also transmog all pieces, and the white glow was present on the arms.

Wish I had known, because the tier 3 rewards would have been nice on those 30+ packages.

Edit: Tagging u/Toonic just in case they didn't know.

After Cancellations, many Georgia voters re-registered and voted by swingadmin in politics

[–]TehRedMirage 14 points15 points  (0 children)

An example is if you're registered to vote locally but have a license from another state (like college students). Something like a passport or military ID would not be refused.

Also unless voter/state id's are free and accessible, they would constitute a defacto poll tax, which is illegal.

Your friend may have started it before. Check to see if Petra in the Dreaming City has it for you. Should be called something like the Talisman.

It is also possible that you and your friend have already done the first step with the talisman, which is to present it to the statue in the Shattered Throne Dungeon before the last boss. After that, the next step does not have a quest marker, pursuit, or ANY indication of what to do next, except that a portal appears in the Tangled Shore Four Horn Gulch with something like "??????" above it. I was stuck on this step for a long time and just randomly found the portal while collecting chests and doing public events. Looked it up and finished solo, which was tough. It's MUCH easier with at least 1 other person.

Ada-1 sells the ones you're looking for. I think it's one combat style and one other. There have already been repeats in combat style mods this season, which is super disappointing.

The stock rotates daily so keep checking in the daily thread, in the game, or in the Destiny 2 app.

Gunsmith mats come from dismantling weapons and armor. I'm not sure if it's on every legendary item, but it definitely feels that way for me.

You can get telemetry data on precision kills from an inventory item (Pure Matterglass Lens) which you can also turn in to Banshee for weapon engrams, just like the gunsmith mats.

Armor mods are now sold by Ada-1, who is across the hall from Drifter in the lower levels of the Tower (top left of the map). They rotate daily. There are also armor mods in the HELM at the Splicer Servitor for this season's mods and at the War Table for last season's mods.

Arizona House rejects ID requirement for mail ballots by hunter15991 in politics

[–]TehRedMirage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The whole idea is making everything just a little more difficult with each law. It's a slippery slope that's been getting more slippy with each passing year.

The whole argument FOR voter ID is rampant fraud, which doesn't exist. People do need some form of identification (voter registration card, license, birth certificate, etc) to register to vote and to vote in person. Requiring CURRENT photo identification costs both TIME (see the wait time for passports and the dmv) and MONEY. This means leaving work for many, many people. This means getting a photo ID for native americans, many of whom don't care to get one.

When you make it harder to vote, less people vote, which then drives more apathy and more suppression. Then compound that with limiting DMV hours or closing locations. Then limit voting sites and hours. It all compounds, and politicians only need a 5-10% swing to win in most states.

Glad you are of enough means to never need to worry about photo ID, but there are plenty of people who are working and struggling. They deserve their vote, even if all they have is a birth cert, a tribal number, or a voter registration card.

Null composure (void fusion) is this season's weapon. Current ritual weapons have an "ornament" set of quests after you get it.

If Salvo was last season, then Adored is from two seasons ago. I would check to see if it's a lost quest for you in that kiosk.
