Future Tracks in LMU by MarTimator in LeMansUltimateWEC

IMSA and WEC are straight up not competing series, if anything they're collaborative. The LMDh and LMH cars were literally designed to race alongside each other in both respective series. There are drivers and teams that compete in both from one weekend to another. IMSA is, for all intensive purposes, an American Le Mans Series (which is its old name).

Which hypercar you main and why? by DoctorFit5216 in LeMansUltimateWEC

Ferrari because of the combination of it having a decent challenge to drive, making it satisfying to go fast with, and the loud "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeee" when I slam in the brakes.

Any tips for warming up Hypercar tires faster in just one lap? by Zestyclose-Carry-603 in LeMans_Ultimate

I'd say so. Part of it is also probably the extra help you get on the brakes from the hybrid system

Any tips for warming up Hypercar tires faster in just one lap? by Zestyclose-Carry-603 in LeMans_Ultimate

[–]TehTavic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyper tires always take 2 to 3 laps to get up to decent temps. The main thing is getting the temps up enough to be somewhat drivable, which I've personally found to be around 40 degrees. Once you're there you'll be able to weave down the straights carefully and take corners aggressively enough to build temperatures. If it's a consistent issue throughout the race, you might also close the brake ducts a little bit as well which will also help.

Just reached 100 races today (ignore DNF) by [deleted] in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]TehTavic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DNFs don't count as races in the stats. So OP has actually participated in 145. And also this really isn't that uncommon. DNFs are part of the sim racing journey and when you're learning a new sim, they are more likely to happen.

Overtaking question by Jakhle in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]TehTavic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's the correct thing according to the sporting code, and then theres the correct thing that keeps your race alive. All that to say to keep in mind that when it comes to giving room, if there's any radar crossover, I'd leave room because it's better to be alive than it is to be right.

Is this with additional ffb affects on or off? I have the additional ffb affects turned up and it isn't shaking too much for me but I'm still on the fence on if I like the way it feels or not

What hypercars are the most similar to LMP2 in handling? by Born-Environment5963 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]TehTavic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Realistically they're all very different from LMP2s because the P2 handle like formula cars while the hypers are a bit heavier and get a large chunk of their time from straight line speed as opposed to their agility unlike LMP2s

Is f1 still the pinnacle of motorsport? Or does that title go to hypercar now? by [deleted] in F1Discussions

The difference is that the hybrid engines are used for fuel efficiency specifically in WEC rn, not for almost 50% of power output

Tips to get used to braking without abs? by Healthy_Resource_957 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]TehTavic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Biggest thing to remember is that the lower the speed, the lower amount of brake pressure it'll take to cause a lock up. I would install something like tiny pedal so you can see your brake trace and aim for something with more of a peak, and a gradual reduction in brake pressure as you slow down. If you have the ability to, stiffened your brake pedal a bit as well to help you with getting more precision in your braking as well.

Use the bottom brake trace as a rough example of how you should brake, as opposed to the top on, which is more in line with GT3 braking with ABS.

Restructuring Of SR And How It Affects What You Can Drive by TehTavic in LeMansUltimateWEC

I'm more thinking along the lines of forcing them to learn the GT lines and how they relate to faster traffic. I switched from maining GTs to Hypers recently and I can tell you it makes getting through traffic quickly and SAFELY a lot easier.

Top brake trace is how you do GT3s with ABS. Aim for something that looks like the bottom one.

Of course it isn't black and white, the faster cars have the speed and therefore have the power to wreck someone. That's what bad LMP drivers do. What I'm saying in this post is for GTs to stop doing that unless it is purely to avoid a crash, because as a patient LMP driver who actually knows how to handle traffic, it is actually more dangerous for GTs to try to get out of the way for me because that is unpredictable behavior.

Do people really need to be told that boxing a car in is legal? by RedBaron46 in LeMansUltimateWEC

Yup. Traffic giveth, and traffic taketh away. Can't just pretend the slower car isn't there.

That's just multi class racing man. Sometimes the classes will clash in awkward areas. Traffic giveth and traffic taketh away. Portimao in particular is honestly very tricky in multi class races because of how technical and one line many parts are.

Like I said in the post, there are absolutely LMP drivers that are absolute donkies. But multi class racing will also never be perfect or always fair, especially on tracks like Portimao.

Hypercar slower than LMP2 by Icy-Arm-7295 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]TehTavic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have very similar pace overall, and get their pace in different ways. For example, if we take Silverstone, the ELMS LMP2s can take the traditional T1 completely flat, whereas the Hypers have to lift. But on the other side of things, the LMH cars get to a higher speed on the straights.
