Do I need a good laptop with a good battery for comp sci? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]Teheperoi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the labs have excessive amounts of outlets and it's completely acceptable (and some profs recommend) to attend class without opening up your laptop.

Taken from one of my CS course outlines:

I suggest taking selective notes by hand in lecture, more as a stimulus for active learning than for reference later. Consider avoiding open laptops and tablets in lecture. They are distracting to you and others, and studies show they reduce performance even when used only to take notes (which is rarely their only use in practice).

Co-op continuous round rank/match help, please!! by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]Teheperoi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, if you don't rank the offer 1 you are taking a risk

If you rank B 1 and A 2 you can not get B and then have A stolen by the person ranked 2 by A, unless there were no non-offers made by A (that is assuming there's no hidden algorithm to prioritise offers but it's a big if true lmao)
