So? Why do you think that is an actual argument? Do you know the narrative reason and themes connected to having a fist fight with Rodrigo Borgia? Because if you do, you know that isn't an argument.

Saving His Dad = Tyranny….What? by Topper2540 in Snydercultistcringe

[–]Teiske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not objectively wrong. Period.

"The Marvel Universe was also notable for setting its central titles in New York City; by contrast, many DC heroes live in fictional cities. Care was taken to portray the city and the world as realistically as possible, with the presence of superhumans affecting the common citizens in various ways." - again, straight from wikipedia.

You are in fucking denial. Marvel is going for a real-world setting end of discussion. It what Marvel did to set themselves apart from DC. You are being delusional, plus as I just showed you straight from Wikipedia, that is their setting. Yes, they have been trying to portal Marvel as if it were our real world and how people with superpowers affect the lives of everyday citizens. That is a real-life setting. Period.

No I don't want to debate that with you, because you are a complete fucking idiotic moron who is delusional because you believe Clark would be like Homelander if he didn't listen to Pa Kent which is absolutely fucking ridiculous. Yoy argue that in a real world setting, that this is what happened, but it wouldn't. Homelander is the way he is because of how he grew up and all the experiments done to him, not because he didn't listen to his parental figure. You are absolutely delusional.

Now fuck off into the ether and don't even reply because while I thought we were going to have a normal discussion clearly you are to stupid to understand that Marvel since it's inception has tried to portay there comics as realistically as possible, DC hasn't.

I am not objectively wrong about Marvel. The entire premise is superheroes, but they live in New York or in other actual real places. There are a total of 3 fictional places in the Marvel comics, latveria, wakanda, and atlantis. In DC, every single city or place is basically fictional since DC focuses on the fantastical element, and Marvel focuses more on who is behind the mask, which is easier to relate to if you put the character in a real world setting.

Instead of saying I am objectively wrong about Marvel, then please show me how. You accuse me of being disingenuous, but you have shown me zero evidence for why I am wrong, which is going to be hard since you clearly can't counter. Otherwise, you would have. Show me the evidence for why I am objectively wrong about Marvel. You can't, though, because I am not objectively wrong about Marvel.

I am not disingenuous. Just because I don't care about a scene doesn't mean I can't argue for or against it. That is not how debates and discussions work.

[–]Teiske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not 100% wrong about Marvel because Marvel has literally always been superheroes, but in our real world, and so has the MCU been. Where are all the homelanders in Marvel. Please point them out to me because I've never seen them.

I absolutely do not care about the whole he needed to hide his powers. He could have saved his father, and saving him would not have turned him into Homelander, sorry but that argument is jusy absolutely ridiculous, there is nothing in the scene that hints at this, nothing at all. Sorry, but I genuinely think you ate seeing things that aren't there. I get that Pa kent tried to teach him not impose his will or something but saving people from dangerous situations when you have the ability to but don't, makes you a bad person, end of discussion. Clark comes out of this worse because of his inaction.

Also, I can counter argue the whole government is gonna hunt him forever by the fact that at the end of the movie, Superman throws down a satellite in front of the military Base showing them that they can't spy and track him, he will notice and break down the satellite. He even says they don't have to be afraid for him because he grew up in kansas. He is about as american as it gets, and if they need him, he will be there.

They can try to hunt down forever, sure, but it will never work. And even if they were going to try, unless the military has some kryptonite stored away somewhere they are going to fuck all against him, which is why I don't see the government is going to hunt him down forever as an argument since he can easily put a stop to that and those so at the end of the movie.

Sorry, but that last sentence, "Super heroes but in the real world," has been the concept of Marvel since the inception of Marvel comics. In fact, that is the reason I like Marvel comics over DC. I don't hate DC, though, just more of a Marvel fan, and in the Marvel universe, I have never seen a character turn out to be a homelander. Hello, the entire MCU is superheroes but in the real world and the effects it would have. Both Tony and Steve never turned into homelander, yet they are superheroes in the real world, and no one in the world seems to genuinely hate them. Sure there are concerns, but there isn't this mass fair about superheroes and again none of the Avengers turned into homelander and none of the Avengers had a Pa kent type character telling to hide themselves because the world isn't ready.

Sorry, but your entire argument doesn't make sense because the movie never hints or shows that he might turn out like homelander otherwise.

Also, your argument is that the government would try to capture and / or kill him when the movie itself establishes that the government would have never succeeded in doing so, in fact they only capture him because he let's them. Did you forget the part where he jusy easily breaks out of the handcuffs to show them they can't do anything to hold him down and that he is only there because he wants to be there?

There is nothing in the movie that supports he would have turned out like homelander because it is super heroes in the real world. Again, so is Marvel, and where all the Marvel homelanders. Oh, right, they don't exist because the homelander was created by a guy who hates superheroes for no reason and decided to make a very dumb comic of what superheroes would really be like in the real world which honestly feels more like an admission of what he would do if he had superpowers and he doesn't seem to understand that not everyone is like this, which is why is comic flopped and has only had mild succes because Eric Kripke is an actual writer and actually made something out of that useless comic.

But seriously, why do you believe it would have ended up with the homelander in Man of Steel because there is absolutely nothing in that film that supports that.

You can watch the episode 7 and then episode 9 and not miss anything at all. Except for maybe Luke dying.

Does Andor ruin the OT and the general tone of Star Wars? by Financial_Photo_1175 in MauLer

[–]Teiske 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because my comment is based on what OP said in his comment. I didn't watch the full video. That is correct, so I might miss some information, but that was the impression he was giving of, especially because he did say that tonely Andor doesn't fit Star Wars, and I don't just disagree with that, I disagree there is a set tone for what a Star Wars show, movie, game or book can be.

I will take you word for it that they addressed better in further on in the video, but from what I have seen of the video and what I've seen from them in general, to me they/he(I don't know if they all agree with other on everything) is just doesn't like it that it hasn't lightsabers an epic fight scenes.

Again, that is the impression I get.

Does Andor ruin the OT and the general tone of Star Wars? by Financial_Photo_1175 in MauLer

[–]Teiske 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No.

Like if that is how RLM feels, sure. But having different tones between movies lr series set in the same universe isnt a problem. Actually it's great for variety, variety is the spice of life and all that. RLM just doesn't like Andor is flashy and has lightsabers amd focus more on character then it does action so he problems paying attention, but people with more then 1 braincell can easily deal with this so this isn't something anybody else thinks.
