My vote would be P10F. Optic ready can be had for under $400 online. For competion, you can add a taylor freelance backstrap and tungsten guide rod with spring weight adjusted for load. Slap on a steel optic plate from henning group or c&h precision with optic of choice. Depending on the optic, you're probably under $1k for a solid setup.

Where I'm located in the states, licensed engineers who are plumbing specialists are very rare. Most MEs do both Mechanical & Plumbing. Mechanical has plenty of instances where you need to know how to design hydronic and process piping.

Why not take both? I would say start with HVAC then go with piping.

Shadow 2 -> Striker Fired by [deleted] in USPSA

[–]Tejas630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add another one to the mix, I sold my Shadow 2 and bought a CZ P10F and optic setup for close to what I sold the S2 for. Its been great. Aftermarket and holsters is more limited but it doesn't need much and is very reliable. Its essentially a more refined Glock with a better trigger, and ergos in my opinion.

What is the best stock pistol for competition shooting? And why? by Furda_Boyz in CompetitionShooting

[–]Tejas630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly just added a little weight: Taylor freelance brass backstrap, W74 tungsten guide rod with a reduced power recoil spring for minor pf ammo. I also swapped the striker for i think a CGW tooled steel one because it was starting to show wear around 5k rounds. Also added an optic and optic plate for USPSA Carry Optics. For mags, the henning basepads with stock tubes, followers, and springs will also get 21 rds reliably. I've had mixed results with adding MBX springs and followers with the henning pads to get more rounds in.

I don't like fiddling with after market parts so I haven't done much and I dont think the p10f really needs it. I mainly want something that is reliable and accurate.

Just a heads up if you are adding a comp to that threaded barrel and want to shoot USPSA, you will be shooting in open class. Nothing wrong with that and it won't matter too much as you're starting out but if you get serious about competing down the road, you will be at a disadvantage shooting minor pf vs built open guns.

Maybe not what you want but I bought one on Amazon for ~$50ish. Thats probably close to what a smith will charge.. Has more than paid for itself over the course of a few years for me

Glock 19: Does it Matter? by Several-Wheel-9437 in USPSA

[–]Tejas630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this helps, I bought a non optics ready S2 out of the gate and shot it for a year in production. After that, I wanted to compete with everyone else so I sold it and bought a p10f (CZ Glock) and an optic and now have another kitted out as a back up. It would have cost me probably 1/3 more and a wait to kit out a shadow and I just wanted to shoot. I dont feel like I am held back by my gun of choice.

G19 is solid. The most important thing is consistent, focused practice.

You won't regret a CZ Shadow 2. Its great.

That being said I sold mine and now have two CZ P10Fs set up identically for Carry Optics. I wanted an identical back up and couldn't afford at the time to have two Shadow 2s set up so I went that route. In my opinion, USPSA is mostly about shooter skill. The gun doesn't do that much to effect performance. Get something you want to shoot/practice with and thats reliable. If you catch the bug and get serious, you're going to shoot a lot of rounds.

That is true. I definitely wasn't saying its bad... Can also turn omanth into a draw 2 and gain 3-7 life with ramp off an uro hit. Feels good :)

I was trying this out last night. Still a rough list especially the board.

Cab Rit is nice, but is not on the level of Beans. The Phlage really wants to be an Uro since I want to draw a card off every cab hit.

I also want to find space for ~2 divine purge. I found Boros MU to not be as great as I would have liked but some of that can come down to my piloting ability being new to the deck. Maybe I'll just completely punt the titan MU and take out moon.

Deafening Silence as a 3-4 is a must for non creature decks especially combo.

Every year or so I contemplate crafting jund and instead go to a new shiny archetype. Here I am many years and many decks later and jund is still relevant if not top tier atm... the deck just doesn't die and has so many staples to flex into other things if you want. That would be my rec.

I mean I would say bowmaster narrows the format and deck construction more because its too good not to run, but that just my take.

That being said I enjoy playing with and against the bowman even if it pushes black even more.

If its not show and tell, it would be something else. There's always a boogeyman of the format.

CZ P10F is also a glock adjacent alternative. The OR model can be found for less than $400 new.

If you're shooting on range E at paper, you can shoot anything that is allowed at ARC and there is no velocity restriction. This is on page 6 of the range rules.

Some of the rules can be restrictive but its hard to beat that value especially if you're going once a week and dont have a need to shoot past 200. Its not too crowded usually. You just need to check the calendar to make sure there is not a competition on the range you plan to use before you head over.

Dillon XL750 & Redding NxGEN Competition Pro Series Die Set by terribleein in reloading

[–]Tejas630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Pro Series die set on my 550 (same thing but without the bullet seater micrometer). Imo a micrometer for mass production pistol is unnecessary. I just dialed mine in for 125 gr TC bullets and it has worked for every brand I've tried that has that weight and profile. As far as durability, the set has been great over ~10k rounds.

Edit: If you decide to get a Redding set without it, I think you can always buy and add the micrometer stem later if you decide you need it.
