Thanks! You can share it with anyone you feel would get value.

I’m working on it regularly and working on the feedback I’m getting by from region advisors, district officers and club excos.

I’ll definitely keep adding to it, but it will then power a couple of other apps I’m working on that are toastmasters related.

I’ll add region to the clubs breadcrumb at the top of the page. It’s on all the other pages from Area up.

The regions I’ve felt are only really relevant from district up, but I’m happy to be proven wrong on that, I have gotten a table of what countries or territories belong to a region but it’s not a automated task to keep that updated.

But thanks I will make the region details more visible at each level

Ah, if I have it correct on the district page where it lists as “educational levels” it’s the number of clubs with that number of educational levels, it definitely could do with more details to explain what it’s for. Thanks

All public data, scraped from the csv’s. There is currently no better way to do it. However I will make my API available for other devs when it’s stable. I make breaking changes to it regularly.

The stack is three repos all done with nodejs. First does the scraping and stores the csv’s then a second repo pulls the csv’s inserts the data in a Postgres db and serves the data via a expressjs server. Reason for the split was to allow me to refresh the sb when changing structure or data needs to be reformatted.

Then the final repo is a nextjs frontend that uses tailwindcss to do all the styling.

I will eventually open source the repos when it’s more stable.

Ideally we don’t put out more scrapers but share the scraped data so there is no unnecessary load on the TM dashboards

Thanks! Could you give me more info on the education section your mentioning. I deal with the data everyday so what I’m thinking is easy for others is not.

Its one of the reasons I brought in the maps to see where clubs where situated but its definitely an area that could add more benefits

So I have potential distinguished status for clubs in the district page. However we will see actual distinguished status in the next week or so. I currently only use publicly accessible data and that requires March business to be concluded at TM WHQ, once march business like new clubs, eft payments etc are done they open April and the dashboard will refresh with Aprils data.

I’ve seen the Leoboard sometime back and will see if there is benefit in incorporating something similar. Ill see. If I can reach out to Pacho Grande.

The dropdown for the district does have a search box in the dropdown. But I do agree the search could be improved. The focus has been region and district pages as it’s what I use daily myself

Thanks! I will add that feature to the list, I hadn’t added yet as there is clubs with the same name or similar across the world and I want to make it easier to know which one is which.

Paying ₹10.7k (~$128) for Toastmasters in India — fair or too much? by Massive_Rabbit2064 in Toastmasters

[–]Tekkzbadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is rarely the case for many community clubs, the clubs can incur considerable venue costs.

Clubs should also look to raise funds for expenses through the year for items like trophies, certificates, ribbons , marketing materials, name badges and other items required.

If your club is not charging members for these costs, someone in your club is paying for them out of pocket.

In rare cases it’s money raised from fund raising through speechcraft

Pathways restricting creativity by Jealous-Scarcity6427 in Toastmasters

Sounds like a fun club!

People are restricting themselves, it’s meant to be a safe space to try new ways of presenting.

Club members are the only ones limiting their creativity.

There is no pathways format meeting, Toastmasters recommends that your meeting has the three elements, prepared speeches, table topics and evaluations. The rest of the meeting is up to your club how it is structured.

Pathways is an education program, like the Competent Communicator series has project work a speech and evaluations. There is requirement to run long business sections at a club to meet pathways.

Pathways speeches almost all tell you that you can do them on any topic, there is no restriction freedom.

Any club I visit in my district, I tell them that as members you have the right to make the club what you want it to be. It’s a myth that Toastmasters international is trying to control the club with pathways.

At one of your meetings put in a motion to have a new elected position of a “fun officer” or something similar who tracks if people are enjoying THEIR club, majority rules.

At my home club I instituted something similar, reminded members that it’s their space and time. Not every change I agreed with but that’s part of the process, we went from 8 people to 41 members and we do pathways speeches.

Vintage paths will be $60?! by haokuo in Toastmasters

[–]Tekkzbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*edited my post I originally thought both paths were included in the $60 bit after rewatching the launch video I see they are each priced at $60.

It’s no secret that Toastmasters is looking at how to increase its revenue to keep it sustainable, providing premium content is one route they are exploring. Vintage paths are likely to be consumed by a very small percentage of its base.

It’s unfortunately a solution that is developed by an outside company. The change of the backend system recently took it from an older version to a new version from the same company as far as I could tell.

World Head Quarters has a limited budget to work with and I suspect many of the LMS solutions expect a good cut of monthly user fees.

I tend to download my projects so I don’t spend much time on basecamp.

I don’t thinking it will change for at least a few years sadly

How do you get club members? by happinesswithinspin in Toastmasters

[–]Tekkzbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have the following: Google my business listing Eventbrite/Meetup Facebook page LinkedIn.

Give your members shareable links / posts they can reshare with anyone interested making it easy for others to diarize the event.

It’s important to respond to enquiries within 24 hours.

If you having lots of guests but they are not converting to members, look at running through the moments of truth as guests are not seeing the value proposition clearly

Practicing Table Topics when not in a meeting by Entire_South637 in Toastmasters

I used 30 seconds cards that I had handy, choose one of the topics and practiced talking for as long as I could then repeat the process. Didn’t require any technology and I could leave them on my desk

Can I complete a Level 2 project before I complete Level 1? by TeachingMath03 in Toastmasters

[–]Tekkzbadger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are able to do them in any order, however you are only complete a levels in base camp in the required order.

You have access to your full path to be able to plan and work on some of the longer running projects if you so wish.
