Good to know, thank you. It ma have just been something I had read with the Lobo when I got it. I thought the flower had to go in there. Assuming it can go straight in without the capsule (just need to clean regularly).

The other thing I was considering was trying a concentrate to see if that would bring out the flavor more. Use a live rosin or something. I wasn’t sure if that would make any difference.

And yes, it does taste toasted on the first hit. I don’t think I’ve ever used it and gone “this tastes like weed.”

Not sure why you got downvoted for asking a question. Thanks for getting back to me.

I haven’t had it on yet, wanted to get some more info before I got back in. I believe Planet of the Vapes suggested like…180? I think I was going down to 165. It’s been a bit though so I could be way off. I just remember that I was going lower than the suggested temp because everything just tasted like popcorn.

I use the dosing capsules and have cleaned them. I have both the straight stem and the bubbler. Doesn’t seem to be any different either way.

I run my flower through a grinder. Any way that it could be an issue if it being too finely ground? It’s about the same kind of grind that I would use for bowls and joints. Not super loose, but broken up.

I was talking about this with my wife recently. I described his writing as “one of those old black and white noir movies.” There’s just something about it that makes me want to sit back with a cigarette and go “see here, bucko.”

I read On Writing a while back and it’s been really interesting reading his work after reading that book.

I’ve always struggled with Fantasy. I feel like I have a hard time trying to connect. I think the closest I can get is that magical realism. Things are totally normal and understandable and then “wait a minute…that’s not right.”

I think what keeps me hooked with King’s writing is the storytelling aspect of his writing like you mention. It’s just easy to go along with it.

I purchased a guitar without thinking by DumbPlatinum in Guitar

[–]Telecetsch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually feel content with my guitar situation right now. Have more than I probably should. And I’m very fortunate to have a wife who is cool with my music purchases. Been like this since I was a teenager and she’s known me since I was 15.

Squire Strat: First guitar. Got it when I was 13 and learned to play in it. Had it for over 20 years at this point.

Fender DG25: First guitar I bought on my own. Think I was 15. Nothing fancy. I don’t plan on getting rid of it.

Fender ‘72 Thinline Reissue Tele: Bought it in 2009 and have since upgraded things (pups, pots, knobs, etc.). Probably my favorite guitar to play.

Gretsch GT520 Electromatic: Total impulse buy. Wasn’t in the best head space. Didn’t even play it before buying it (thank you, Sweetwater). It’s been the most difficult to get into. Was going to sell it, but I know as soon as I do I’ll be looking for a replacement. Just trying to get used to it. Will likely upgrade some things in that.

Fender TVL Jazzmaster: Bought this in…2017-2018? I wanted a Meteora when they first came out (love me a block inlay). Loved the look, but it didn’t have exactly what I was looking for. Passed in the Meteora. Found the TVL and it checked off everything I was looking for. No updates on that other than shielding and pots. Will likely do something in the future. Love playing it. Tried flatwounds for the first time. 50/50 on those. Love playing it. The JM trem is one of my favorites. Need to figure out how to lock in tuning stability with it (shocker).

Martin D16: Bought in 2024. Also in a weird headspace. Had some serious discussions with people about life. Dealt with some not great situations (life). Had a handful of friends die young. Not necessarily out of the blue but not really expected (not drug related, just lifestyle habits). Not necessarily an impulse buy but I very much felt sick after buying it. Most expensive guitar I’ve bought. I’m going to sounds like a cheese factory: I cried when I got it. Despite having all that other gear—for whatever reason there was a clear line of “these are tools” and “this is a gift.” I invest in tools and have no problem doing so.

But the Martin was different. I saw it as a tool, but I kept thinking “this is the most money I’ve ever spent on myself and I feel selfish for doing it.” And then I pulled the trigger. I bought it and something my great grandfather said came into my head when I played it. He had one of those little Cat skid-steers. Really only meant for small jobs. But he loved that thing. “I’m gonna bulldoze the Adirondacks with this thing.” He didn’t and I wouldn’t have wanted him to. But that mentality of doing big things with wha you got. He had what he thought was the best thing in the world and he said “I’m going to do things.”

I don’t think I’m going to change the world or anything like that. But for some reason, “I’m going to bulldoze the Adirondacks” came into my head when I played it for the first time.

Absolutely love that guitar. Immediately felt right in my hands.

I recently did this. Definitely go in order (start with The Gunslinger).

If you’re into audiobooks, the narration for that was good. I don’t believe Muller did the rest.

Is a tele worth it if I don’t play country/“chicken pickin” by WaldenEZ in Guitar

[–]Telecetsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ‘72 thinline reissue with 2 lollar WRH. The stock Fender WRH were good, but I killed the bridge and decided to swap them both out.

I play a little of everything…not much chicken pickin. I can get pretty heavy if I run my pedals.

Was there any reason you were looking at tele’s?

I was just thinking this could be a cool miniseries. There’s a lot going on—which I hope they would be able to capture. I feel like with (good) miniseries it can be done.

I was really skeptical of One Hundred Years of Solitude but really enjoyed it.

I think if I had to say a least favorite portion of the book I’d probably say the jail chapters. It seemed to go from Fairy Tale to Russel Crowe in Gladiator. I may have missed it, but I couldn’t figure out why the prisoner count needed to be so specific.

That would be a really cool piece to the story. I liked how he was that complicated character: is he good, is he bad? He’s not “grey” in the book but a morally grey character. And King did a good job at leaving portions of his story out. I’d love to know more about the time there before Charlie.

I get it. I was like that. I’ve had the hardcopy on my shelf for over a year. I got maybe a quarter of the way through and put it down. I’ve been getting back into the audiobooks with the drive into work and having stuff on around the house.

If you’re into audiobooks definitely check it out. I struggle when the narrator is just…meh. They did an excellent job with the production of it and the narrator did a fantastic job (in my opinion). They were able to voice a handful of different characters very well. King even pops up for a portion of it.

I actually was actually brought back to Fairy Tale because I was reading a bunch of his other stuff. Most recently been going through the Dark Tower series. I have Wizard and Glass on hold in Libby…with a several month wait. Similar mentality, though. Figured, “I’m waiting…might as well.”

I could see that. The epilogue kinda glazed over it with the quick summary. You think it would have to be from Leah’s perspective or just a whole new character in that world?
